drewfish 0
Hey all haven't had time to post this one up. About three months ago i was fishing a wreck for slimmies in 100 foot of water. The slimy macks were thick and in no time we had a good hull of snapper baits. As i wound in one slimy a seen a large bronze shape out the back of the school. It only took a moment to realize it was a little bronzie. My mate and I both had our snapper set ups handy and no shortage of slimies, so we casted straight into the school. As soon as the baits hit the water the shark turned around and started swimming towards my mates bait faster and faster until it swallowed the bait and took a huge run down deep. When my mate went to set the hooks the line went slack and reeled in his line minus the slimy mackerel. Surprisingly the shark resurfaced straight away, this time i took the sinker off and casted near the shark again, straight away it took my bait and headed deep, i let the shark take 20 meters of line before i struck hard. and that was it the fight was on. My silver rod buckled in half and line peeled off the pen slammer, already my legs were shaking, in excitement and knowing that i only had 60 pound mono that the broznies teeth would treat like cotton. five minutes into the fight and amazingly the shark was still attached to my line. After several large runs and countless head shakes and the shark wrapping itself up in the trace, the little shark lay at the side of boat where it was netted and brought aboard. drewfish 0
My mate started cutting it up and bleeding it before i could take a photo. The first thing to go was the dorsal fin!!!The only reason i landed it on mono because the shark was somehow hook in the gill out side of its mouth. No sure how it got hooked up like that but im not complaining.
