brenton 637
Well the squid will grab snook and bream lures so they might work,i'd rather be fishing than tinkering about in the shed on a day like today though. cheers brenton
spog777 1
youll have to keep us updated on how they fare when u use em-they look excellent
statesquider 0
Very keen to see how these go. They look fantastic mate! I've had squid take lures before but I find they're hard to hook. What you've knocked up should work a treat!
jewie 3
I would have rather been fishing today too but had to work till 12.30 and felt too Iredell to head out. I was meant to be cleaning up the shed but got sidetrackted. The jag with the red head is a yozuri which I now call a tenticool and the blue jag is a cheap eBay lure I now call a mac rattler ?? I might be going to second valley tomorrow or Monday so I will let ya know how I go. Cheers jewie

urhookedfish 12
top looking jags there' date=' i once had a monster off giles grab my soft plastic..nuts![/quote']..Nearly every time I throw a 7inch jerk Shad off the jetty At Porties, I nearly always have a decent squid latch on. I can normally wind them from out deep to inclose to the jetty then switch to a squid jag and catch em.The best colour is the camo..squid love it.
chunky 0
hey jewie just wondering how the modified squid catchers went,i have a couple of likly cantidates siting around here at home iam looking at converting myself, have you used them yet and how did you go
T BONE 1
You used to be able to buy a range of diving squid jigs & I searched for a while trying to source some & found some in Europe but cannot purchase any. I am wondering why they are so hard to come buy as the idea of trolling over a larger area is bound to be way more productive? Good work on the jigs mate, be interested to see how they perform. TENNANT 29
Hi I was reading this old post from 2010 and thought I would bum it up and see if anyone else has tried converting lures to squid catchers?
Soobz 557
I bought these a while back, yet to fit any to a lure but I plan to, due to the number of squid chasing my hardbodies plus they should be more snag resistant if you pick a lure of the right diving depth. Based on today's weather I might do it very soon

TENNANT 29
These were the only actual lures I could find that had a squid jag. I know the critics will say why isn't every one using them, but 40 years ago they said that about anything that did not have a dead fish tied on it. At least it might be a bit of fun lure.html
SurfcaztR 707
You can buy crank lures already made up with squid hooks on AliExress

And can you catch squid on them, I think if you could cast them around bait fish they may be good, or if squid were following lures.
Soobz 557
Not a clue. The bib is a tad small for my liking but they claim it's a sinking lure - which is not what I'd want. My other plan is to remove the sinker from a squid jig and replace with a bib
Wert 470
I had one of those rapala lure jigs in bright orange and it worked a treat, was slow sinking and the bib was more for action than depth after the first 50cm. Will grab one if I find one on special but for most applications the classic Oita style is a bit more practical and much sturdier. Definitely worth adding one to the collection for the egi addicts though, especially if you like casting over shallow rocks and reef land based. TENNANT
