Proudest day ever. Warnerdoone ski boat inter club open comp

Got chosen for my first opens comp (open age limit) instead of being on Durban under 18 team as a fill in at last minute. And made captain in team of 2 for my club. Got laughed at the whole presentation by all the old guns in other teams... All 35 year old and older. 1st day of 2 got blown out, day 2, after big surf launch, I noticed bait boiling at back line, flicked the bat jigs at it and got some slimeys, and asked skip if he knew any good wrecks to go anchor so we could fish bottom and surface for Jews and polagics. Took us to a secret spot of his, first slimey on the bottom, huge bronze hammer wich counts as a game fish , partner tried to gaff it, broke the only gaff... Lost the shark, changed Riggs, went back down with a livey, livey on float and wire on overhead also, Bang! Big hookup on bottom, 10 kg line comp.... After almost an hour of playing sum thing big on Keith Palmer reel (like alvey with no drag) and train tracks burnt into my hand, 32 kg black Jew broke the surface. only 15fathoms, so no barratrauma...lucky my partner got his hand in the gills, and we both dragged it on board, b4 I had a chance to register, overhead screamed off... 20minutes later, a 12kg GT tail grabbed. Then the weather got to bad to b around pinnacles, as the big swells started breaking close by. Pulled plastic back, no more luck . Ended up winning every prise but. 1 heaviest gamefish, bottom fish, top bag, top angler, top captain, top team! Nobody was laughing then let me tell u gr8 when u get it right!!
