You're welcome guys. @Doodlebug73 I don't have a 4x4 so have to leg it , but good news is they were pretty much right in front of the entrance to the beach from the kiosk. We went a bit to the right away from people swimming, surfing etc, found a bit of our own space and did the pippi shuffle. I think the further you go from the masses the more chance of finding them easier because people are generally a bit lazy walking further & so they're less are likely to have been taken further away. But you don't need to go far to find good ones at the moment.2 points -
Diawa Double Clutch, What is Your Favourite?

The double clutch is one of our biggest selling lures at the shop. Mainly the 75mm ones... Our supplier is finding hard to get stock from daiwa and only getting dribs and drabs here and there. My fave colours are black sniper, black and gold and iwana... my opinion that they are the most versatile hb on the market.2 points -

Storm Smash Shad Best snook lure I have used. I have run a double clutch side by side and they usually draw more strikes. They are cheap if you shop around overseas. I bought a heap from the US a few years ago when the dollar was high and got them for about $6 AUS. Currently going for $5 US on various US sites. They usually go on sale down to $4 US every now and then. Shipping costs a bit though.2 points -

Gee, and what have you done except whine and criticize? We have done far more submissions and media releases than the peak body. With a weekly reach of 70,000, it's not a bad result for those working as volunteers. Yes, the website has been hacked, on purpose by the way and this is being addressed, but we have many portals for discussion. Right now, there is no doubt that if SAFA and RecFish Central had not pushed issues hard, nothing would be on the table towards the election. We didn't see anybody else present to the Natural Resources committee ? Slanging off at those working their guts out2 points -
Hi all, Went down to Goolwa on Sunday to collect some cockles for bait now that the season has reopened. The hot weather and light winds made it a perfect day for frolicking among the crashing waves. What was surprising was the average size of the cockles we were gathering, being well over 3.5 cm across (legal minimum size). Got enough to last a little while but well under our quota. Didn't take long because finding legal ones was so easy which hasn't been the case over the last few years. They're now packed and stored in the freezer ready for summer sessions. Thought I'd do it early1 point

Hi Noz, I usually use a double clutch (garfish looking), 3 inch paddle-tail SP or ecogear SX48 and usually do alright. I don't lose many lures as I use a 30 pound flouro trace and use my net anyway to lift the fish out of the water if the lure is that far down it's gob that the line will rub on the teeth. Nice one Adrian. Never even knew you could get in to the beach past the main carpark (Beach Rd) !1 point -
On scuba or hookah tow a diver behind the boat on a ski rope at idle. If the water is clear the scallops usually sit on the silty banks that run between white sand holes or runs. Generally speaking you won't find them where there is a heap of tape weed. Have a dive around semaphore reef. They are around the tyre reef as well but that from memory is 50 - 60 foot deep. Once you find a patch you'll be able to recognise the bottom they prefer.1 point

Whilst I have a handful of the 75mm and 95mm models I have never had any real success on them. I'd put that down to user error more than faulty equipment though. You can tell from their action they are a good lure. Not to mention the amount of success others have on them.1 point -

Depends on where I fish I have found that the black gold has caught bream across all my haunts and then it can vary between colours like albino, midnight trout, ghost wakasagi or perch, black sniper and black yamane Again size between 75 and 60 depends on where I am fishing A great lure Regards HBt.1 point -

Casting, I've had just as much success on Zman Grubs as I have the nice hard bodies. But trolling, IMO, you want something you can work slowly. The metals are good when they are on, but you'll snag plenty if you're fishing shallow and trolling slowly, not to mention lack of action on many. Shallow divers often run pretty straight, as long as they are half decent. Get something from Atomic or rapala, storm, even halco tbh. The little scorpions are meant to dive to 1.2m and run well behind a boat. A 60mm version would do well.1 point -

Are you planning on trolling behind the yak? Try any minnow profile shallow diving HBs around the 70-90mm mark, especially those that may look like a gar- shiny silver/blues/greens etc. Im not specifically familiar with them but some of the Savage Gear ones look ok, around $12 too. Snook are schooling, so once you get a few hits in the same place it may be worth while to go more 'hands on' and switch over to SPs. Zman's are suitably tough for snook attacks, dont try to use Gulps!! Something like 3.75 in Zman Streakz, 85-110mm Flickbaits. As mentioned, metals can be good too and cheap!1 point -

Fishing Techniques: Most snook are taken on lightly-weighted or un-weighted baits of whitebait, anchovy or pilchards on ganged hooks or single, long-shanked hooks. They also fall to fish flesh strips, small live baits and pieces of squid. These baits should be a lightly weighted and kept moving. A gentle jigging motion will often attract snook. Snook are also keen lure-takers and fall to slow-trolled spoons, jigs, feathers and minnows, particularly on weighted lines or behind paravanes. Eating Qualities: The snook is a very good to excellent table fish, much prized in southern waters. The fish1 point -

OnkaStompa 2017 was off to an early start yesterday as it always is. A total of around 238 entrants and approximately 298 in attendance. It was a hot day but people still came out and enjoyed a family day of fishing and fun. The total raised throughout the year and announced on the day was $24,760 with that number to be topped up a little when every last cent was counted. Well the grand total ended up being an astounding $25,181.60. The official results... That sounds great, but I don't think local Councils have any jurisdiction beyond the high water mark, and any regulation would need to be implemented by a Govt Department and/or legislated by politicians? (ie - via the existing Fisheries management system). For whatever reason, I don't think that anything has been done to bring the representatives of each sector together and attempt to come up with a solution, even though that may be the only way this can be resolved without years of ongoing dispute - during which time the fishery will continue to suffer (ie business as usual). But it1 point
