  1. We caught some out in the boat last week towards Victor way. Most were probably around the 40cm mark, with the biggest going around 50cm.

  4. I haven't tried much this year but I've got a few for liveys mainly around the Port River estuary in various places, I did get some good sized ones a few months ago coming past the Outer Harbour seal colony, one was big enough to break the hook on my double clutch and get away.

  5. Been getting a few up to 1kg off the jetty over recent weeks. For me anything before the first steps has worked well. I tried Sat afternoon from about 3:30pm down the end of the jetty but only lasted an hour with the weather and didn't get a touch. I am finding that just before or just after low tide has been best for me. Cheers

  6. The metro trouties started pretty early this year, though size is a little small. Was out on some metro rocks a couple of weeks ago having a fun session on 15-27 cm fish. My mate was running late, I was already in my spot of choice, I got 8 fish in 12 casts while he was walking up to me LOL I knew the bite would slow as soon as he got there and it did..pays to be on time haha

    Winter's here..

Great views ,and a great place to live ,but I hate the cold with a passion . Wish I could like the cold , but NO is the answer ,call me soft lol. I worked up in the desert ,and the heat was unreal ,but you learn to live with it , but when the cold came in the desert ,it would cut you like a knife . HEAT FOR ME PLEASE

  10. @AquaticResearch1 I was getting them up to a kilo but they are getting them up to 5+ kilo. Plenty there and if you get the right day you’ll end up with a few. Plenty of trout in these waters too.

  11. Plenty of trouties up to 35cm tops down sugars beach. Otherwise haven't tried in the surf proper yet. @LoftyHow big were the Chinooks? Pretty keen to head over that way in future for brook trout and Chinook salmon. Groovy fish.

  13. None for either - but trying again today (fingers crossed). The post I put up earlier, did have people catching good ST's and an odd smaller Salmon on PN jetty Saturday arvo. Mainly from the second steps. Many others along the jetty didn't have much. The guys at the end looked a bit bored, but not sure if they had anything.

    Bushy's night

It was all about catching sand whiting on surface lures and how his experiences could translate to our yellowfin whiting. Starting from the beginning was gear talk; graphite rods, 1000-2500 sized reels with 6lb braid and 8-15lb leader depending on bycatch (flathead, tailor, salmon, trevally etc). Next the lures and the main three that Bushy rated highly were the Bassday Sugapen, Atomic K9 Bulldog and Zerek Trail Weaver in lures that are transparent. Instead of the trebles Bushy definitively recommended using assist hooks, home made or bought in the size 8-10 size. If making your own then have
