    Why don't I catch fish?

Interesting question....,why dont I catch fish? I am partly blaming the internet for this dilemma, nowadays info is hand fed.Back in the day it was fishing reports in the paper, after that it was up to the individual to actually go out ,see what other experienced anglers were doing right, taking in the info, spending time on the water, working out tides, feeding habits, gathering or buying fresh bait, experementing with different rigs...basically doing the hard yards. You can only be hand fed so much, time on the water= experience ,actually working things out yourself plus seeing from ot

    Why don't I catch fish?

Once you get over the current disappointment, re phrase the question from a negative to a positive. ie what do I need to do to catch fish? Any endeavour that requires some skill, research, practice, dedication and a heap of failures will, in the end be more rewarding and character building once the success comes. Cheers Rod

  4. I recently went through a rather exhaustive search on what superglue people use to attached ZMANS to jigheads. The glue is to stop fish yanking your plastic off the hook or pulling it off the keeper - or "Getting Pantsed". This is a serious issue when getting 100's of hits that dont hook up, while chasing small snapper. Here's what I learnt 1 - most people have never heard of using superglue with ZMANS 2 - those that had, like loctite gel super glue 3 - Most people use TT Headlock jigheads with ZMANS and claim getting "pantsed" isnt an issue 4 - Some claim getting pansted i

    Why don't I catch fish?

This may help your present situation: perseverance + skill + confidence + luck = FISH. If not then my philosophy is: If I dont have a lure in the water I cant catch a fish . Good luck with your fishing. Regards HBt.

  9. why not start with carp and go from there other then that when im having a bad run I'll drift up and down the fish factory and always come home with a bag or 2

  10. yeah - if they're going to eat a fish with a lead head and a hook sticking out of its back - A slightly hunched back probably wont be the final straw

  11. Yeah we used to work the bay rockwalls with SX40's for the pinks which is alot of fun - but the versatility of plastics is hard to beat on the pinkies

  12. I might need to give this plastics fishing another go . Regards HBt.

  13. Yeah getting pantsed is predominantly a micro pinkies on plastics problem. Heaps of aggressive hits that dont hook up when you strike is the issue. But I specifically bought the ZMANS to target pinkies that hang around bait schools so white is a half decent match - it could be better but it will do

  14. Most of the SP fishing I do is for bream in various systems, occasionally chase mullies and snapper on them too but I've never really been bothered by fish pulling the plastic from the jighead. Sometimes we get loads of leatheries on a snapper drop but I'll switch to a metal jig or sinking stick bait or we move altogether As an example most guys I've come across that fish plastics for bream predominantly use a 2.5" motor oil grub, for good reason but having said that for me I've easily caught more fish on different shapes and colours and wouldn't rank the motor oil grub in my top 5 pick

  15. Yeah I'm the opposite when it comes to colours - I just pick one and stick with it. It takes a fair bit for me to change these days - I used to be mad for it but now I just cant be stuffed If they arent hitting little bait fish profiles I will switched to a worm if I'm near some worm beds but usually I just put my faith in bait fish imitations. When I do change plastics its usually to a different weight head, profile or hook size. But I do carry a few pre-rigged in a little tackle box in my pocket in case the toadies move in.

  17. Never used glue on any plastics, have never felt I've needed to. Most often I'll do exploratory fishing in an area to find what's working on that particular day in that area. I'll have usually a half dozen plastics in my pocket (not in my tackle bag) and I'll change colour and or type of plastic in one particular area to determine what they're liking. Sometimes I don't have to change things up because they hit the first one I cast but they definitely hit different colours and types on different days. If I glued them and had to re-tie a new jighead everytime I changed I probably would

  19. 7'3" was originally sold as a vibe rod I think so will have enough midrange to work larger whiting topwater lures, as is designed with enough give so you wont pull hooks on soft mouths. The blanks are a bit doughy, being composite, but are fine for what you are doing. I have one of the original pale blue sticker rods, with cork handle.
