Well these are at the 2nd last stage of the lure painting process. Just added my signature on the bottom of the lures and added the 2nd and final clear coat to them. The last stage is fitting terminal tackle and test swimming before sale... It's not as simple as paint lures and your ready to fish. It takes plenty of prep work and tedious bits amd pieces to produce lures like this... It has taken 2 weeks of prepping. Drying. Clear coating etc just to complete 10 lures... That's what makes it much sweeter and rewarding when you sell one and someone catches a fish on t

I have been catching some impressive gummies around Edithburgh.Try the rips around Saltana Point around dusk.Use squid heads on a running rig.I know its not against the law to catch and keep females but after gutting a good size female a few years ago and finding over 30 pups happily swimming around inside her,i have made it my rule not to keep females. The one I am holding here is a male.

Just remember to reel in fast when the wave is breaking so the line doesn't foul up the hook at the back. Wish I had my Granddads rod now but I still have an Alvey reel matched up with a Wilson 10ft one piece rod that lives in my dining room. But these days I use Spanyid Raiders or big blades coz they cast accurately right next the salmon schools and don't spook the fish. Old metal lures are the ducks nuts coz they cast a mile and never say die but they also have some bad habits and don't copy the action of a wounded baitfish. Big blades are also good but the trebles are prone to gathering

Ahh I spose retrieving with an alvey ensures you arent brining it in that quick. I've got them on blades before but I havent thought to use metal slug type lures

My Granddad used these on Goolwa beach when I was a wee lad. Salmon and mulloway in the suds. Big split cane beach rod which to me as a little kid was huge and heavy. And an Alvey reel.[emoji6][emoji6] Sent from my SM-J120ZN using Tapatalk

"Bernie Shzot's Baltic series were, the Flash and Minnow which were the through line models, the Bobber which had the fixed double and the Gardie." See http://www.lurelovers.com/forum/paw-paw-and-more_topic1773.html Being of a certain age myself, I remember when lure choice was easy in SA. The lure rack ws dominated by heavy metals: there were only Halco slices (with a red tag if you were flash), "Wonder Wobblers", "Wonder Pilchards", "Stingsildas", "WK Arrows" and "Baltic Bobbers/Gardies". Occasionally stocked were "Rebel Killers" (entire Minnows department), and "Flopys" (sole occupant

"Baltic Bobbers" http://www.jmgillies.com.au/product/bobber/ Long versions, or long copies thereof, used to be THE gun mulloway lures in the surf at the Murray Mouth (Coorong) in the 1970's !!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!

I Would suggest KI/Cape Jervis offshore for one place. Another spot is out off Port Victoria on the whiting drops, have a slop line with a whole squid head and gummy gets taken out there. I’m unsure on the season for them there though. Depending on how far you want to drive, Coffin Bay has them in the bays at times and outside the bay to the north. Or down in the South East down Robe way they can get them as well.
