Just looking at that reel I would have more pressure on when winding that braid on, gotta get a good solid lay in that spool, otherwise its going cause a few probs down the track.... sweet looking reel though cheers sf

just wondering why bother with the nylex connector sg, no point sharing the hose for garden duties. getting sore neck might have to turn computer on its side. SF

Fair chance there is a heap on the 139/coral patch grounds south of the mouth too at this time of year, can remember seeing cray pots full of them. In terms of the SBT definitely something to do with currents by all accounts the east coast has seen big pelagics in close too. Cheers SF

Go see Keith, he will sort you out, a rod that will last you many years, all the best with the new rod

Sabre eg 140 3-5kg blank glass very tippy but plenty of bottom end stick when you need it. Been proven for many years and not overly pricey suits a 2500 to 3000 size reel, just my two bobs worth. Best of luck with the replacement SF.

Yep use a lumo or two bead above the hook in the body if you want a surface type lure or a ball/barrel if you want to get down a bi,t the single hook I have always spaced back so its about 20mm or so in the skirt, same as tuna set back cos they will be hitting from behind. hope that helps you out Cheers SF

Listed on Juro oz fishing tackle site as squid bait 057 and as octopus bait 057 aswell under saltwater lures section hope this helps
-
The little squid type lures you guys talk about are the white plastic with silver glitter fleck made by Juro tackle company hollow in the middle and can accomadate a ball sinker to weight them if necessary, common use is for a teaser on snook leaded line. Hope that helps ASD Cheers SF

ASD 14 Im not taking anything away from these reels Im just saying that if they want to improve them there is always areas that need to looked at when you pay top dollar for a reel you expect they can deliver what they claim. I have three saltigas two spin and one o/h because I wanted to buy reels that would last, just want any future purchasers to be aware of these issues , and for the fact I have not bothered with upgrading the drag washers because I don't thing the reel body in particular the foot will handle it will handle anymore than 30 kg of stress put thru it. Just my two cents wort

Its unfortunate that the manufacturers of these reels mentioned above wont improve the bail roller issues by going away from bearings and using bronze bushes, as there isn't a bearing strong enough in design to cater for the stresses involved in using 80lb braid and fishing the reel to its capabilities, I have a Saltiga 6500 exp and its getting patched up again. for a reel of that price tag I thought I was getting something that was rock solid but alas I was wrong its now on its third set at 4 yrs old. We need someone to keep these guys honest congrats to Alan H Cheers SF
