  1. Well if your keen this summer we could organise a trip round if your keen. Almost hope I can find some little ones so I can land them haha.
  2. Cheers. Your spot just has rats then? Most Less then 80cm? Whenever I've seen the Kings where I fish they are around the 4ft mark. Might even give it a go and see if any of the Fabled port Kings are around and hungry.
  3. Its been a little while, has anybody had much success on the Molix lures? Anh follows or fish on the Popper Lee? Had another quick look today and they had a nice 12cm sinking stickbait. Looked like a very good gar imitation, again would probably be ideal for chasing Kings and Big Salmon.
  4. Smashing the Kings Lee! I've heard the FK have some really nice gearing that makes reeling against load feel like normal or something similar. Can testify for the "old" models (2008-2012)of light spin reels from Shimano. Bashed a Seido like you wouldn't believe in the back of a quad bike trailer 3 nights a week and have dunked the Symetre Fj in salt and quick rinse no worries. Disappointing that the reels seem to be losing a little robustness. Alan Hawk seems to think the gap between the 2008 stella and the Stella SW is massive, in favour of the 2008 model.
  5. Very very nice southie. Always been a little interested in rod building, will be an interesting project for sure! Putting any fully hectic bling on the rod or keeping it simple?
  6. Oh ok haha By new stradic do you mean the FK? OR the CI4+?
  7. I'll take it off your hands if I must; I'm all for helping out fellow fishos. What don't you like about it Fishingmad? Have heard some have issues with flex in the reel stem?
  8. How's you know where it was Kelvin? Looking at the type of rock I guess it is south America or Hawaii or thereabouts?
  9. Honestly don't know but my prediction is some kind of ocean current is upwelling, bringing with it heaps of Krill and zooplankton and the like, followed by the whales. This is followed by pelagic baitfish (could explain the lack of metro st's) and hence in come the tuna.
  10. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yZCdBrj-bCY This guy has some fantastic Landbased Fishing for Yellowfin Tuna and the like on lures. In the video above he catches two big tuna of about 70kg and 90kg. Also has a video of him landing a 105kg yellowfin landbased. Absolutely insane fishing.
  11. I've talked to fisheries while fishing on the Bluff jetty, so they do get around to land based spots. Might cop a bit of flack for this, but what the hell. I only ever fish two lines at a time because really it is all I can manage effectively. But, personally I wouldn't report somebody for using two rods and a handline off a jetty. I mean, come on, if their not getting in your way or taking up a heap of space, why not just shrug and except it rather than getting all up in somebody else's business and flustered about it? It's not like somebody with a Tommie under a squid float, and a co
  12. I'm not a fly fisherman myself but those crazy Charlie flies look like they'd get a few Gold bars
  13. Would probably be best to have a roll of the Salina before buying. I've had a feel of a few Okuma reels and they didn't feel very flash. Definitely preferred similarly priced or cheaper Daiwas, Fin Nor, Shimano etc. Going by feel alone.
  14. That sounds nice Banga, grabbed a similar combo today myself. Think you may be feeling it if you fight a good fish under much pressure on a 10ft. Unless relatively high energy beaches are par of the course I would go 8.
  15. Jettys? Or rocks? Might be a bit trickier from jettys with good kings, pylons don't mix with line well under tension. Maybe a Salina 3 16000 and a decent casting (pe 8) rod like a Terez or Demon Blood (not sure if their is a casting option or budget blowing price) Leaves $70 odd for braid and the like, okuma, although not refined as well as other reels, push massive drag pressure through the Salinas and the life time warranty is generally adhered to. So handy if the fishing is crash and bash tough on gear. Not speaking from experience, but I looked into it a while ago and found som
  16. Great, its good to know that there are still some good deals to be had without being shafted.
  17. Have you bought any of these and are they genuine? Seems very very cheap
  18. Think I saw cranka crabs for $400 when nobody could get them in stock. If you like a online product, get a price of Ray and Anne's or Motackle online first then compare. Will put you in the ball park of what is or isn't a good deal.
  19. In saying that though it might be an idea to leave a treble on the back to catch smaller salmon and little rats and the like. Not YFW but I've found similar to keeno with small reddies on surface walkers or redfin on bigger poppers, that they take the front treble.
  20. Yeah mate I see what you are saying but YFW wouldn't be my target with that kind of popper. Kings, snook, uber redfin and Salmon would be about it. The popper is only 65mm but its a fair chunk of a lure. Got plenty of light poppers for the bream and YFW.
  21. The slow jig looks nice, would be realistic when using the forward tow point. The popper kuerschie, so you think you could upgrade to #1 #2 or 1/o singles and still have it float?
  22. Cheers fellas. I think next reel I spool I'll chuck some gliss on there. The casting gets the job done where I fish most so now the main problems solved I might just leave it on. Thanks guys
  23. Yes I noticed that as well Archer. Particularly liked the popper, looked around 60mm and a bit like a refined rooster popper. Good weight behind them for their size it seems. Was very tempted to get it for the same reasons as Kuerschie but then looked at the hooks... How do you find the hooks K? They didn't look like hooks that would come with a $17 lure.
  24. Thanks fellas Projoe thank the mad dog for me if you see him again 'cause that knot is a belter. No more shredding. The knot is super simple to synthesise and is still super slick. Hadn't busted off on a fish yet, just too easily on snags. Where I fish is very snaggy so luckily it was tested before a big hook up. Thanks a million guys
