  1. The old pliers surgery is always great fun isnt it? I do need to find a decent pair of forceps for my trout fishing at some point. Just havent found any I like more than the pliers
  2. Aside from safety and being more fish friendly,I was considering if the hooks would set better due to not having to push the barb through. The hooks could slide through better and potentially I'd miss less fish due to the hooks not sticking properly. Spose I can always try on 1 lure and see how I feel
  3. I've been considering going barbless on my smaller lures as of late. After getting a set of trebles firmly stuck in my arm and reading Bushy's piece on barbless hooks I am almost ready to take to the lure box with a set of pliers. Does anyone have any experience with barbless hooks? Pros and Cons? Did you stick with it?
  4. I have a retro fitted doubleclutch 60 which works fine. Fitted with Gamma #6 inline. Only issue I have is the hookpoints may have bent slightly already, unless I just havent seen it in the original design
  5. Once saw a metre + fish eyeballing a live tommie I was using around Smoky Bay. Didnt commit to it but geez that thing was a horse. Lucky he didnt bite you off with 4lb trace Southie
  6. This could be cool, or interesting. Hope it is adapted across most things should it work. Would make naming your marks a hell of a lot easier
  7. Have heard of carp washing in there after big rains before. As the other fellas have said I wouldn't be surprised if that'd the case
  8. No I haven't, but I intend on it now. Would be a hell of alot more convenient than freezing a heap of carp for your basic landbased burley. Wonder how cooking down the flesh itself (in the case of carp) would go? May need to mash it or add a little water. Interesting experiment none the less
  9. Anybody know if these things are still available? Wouldn't mind adding one to the collection but can't seem to find them anywhere...
  10. Bloody hell! The forces of nature hey...
  11. Went down to Fishing Wholesalers this morning and ended up with the 4000 BG, 5-9kg abu Veritas (which balanced perfectly) and plenty of 20lb braid. My new favourite combo hands down. The customer service was unbelievably good. Best I've ever had by far, would thoroughly recommend fishing Wholesalers to anyone looking to grab some new gear. Not usually one to flog stores but I've not been so impressed with customer service before. Head and shoulders above the rest. Bring it on.
  12. They won't last saltwater fishing, classed as a fresh water reel. See, I've never understood that. I appreciate you letting me know, but why make a real that can't stand up to saltwater fishing, I'm guessing due to corrosion etc, then mark it corrosion resistant? Should make everything to a standard that can cope in a marine (not necessarily harsh) environment. Thanks for letting me know though fella. I'll still have a play though, cause you know, you can never not enjoy having a play with 1/2 decent gear
  13. When I head down, I reckon I'll have a good play with the Aird X aswell. Similar specs to the BG SW.
  14. Looking at the black gold, would people recommend the 3000 or 4000? The 3500 would be nice judging by the daiwa site, but I don't think that'll be in store here ;/
  15. Will definitely have a look at those now Knackers. Bit of brief reading suggests they should be phenomenal value. Discussion on the stradics has been interesting thus far
  16. Cheers Fellas. Looking to spool with 20lb power pro if bite the bullet and get one, meaning I'd get around 260-270m on I reckon. I'll go have a play in the shop, chuck it on a few rods and see what balances nicely. Cheers
  17. Hey all, Got an email from BCF and seriously considering picking up a 4000 2016 Ci4 + at ~$280 ish on special. Now, this reel would be used for lure casting Salmon, spinning for smaller kings, local mulloway live baiting and snapper. I'm wondering if the Ci4 body would be strong enough to withstand fishing like this? Or is I likely to flex under the load of a decent Mulloway or ~80cm king? Any opinions much appreciated. Cheers
  18. Piece of piss mate, want to set some challenging goals for a change?
  19. Locally I'll be hitting up the hoards of hungry Redfin and yabbying. Otherwise: Metro Yellowfin Callop Kingys Eagle rays Gar Snook All landbased
  20. Awesome mate, good to see some solid sambos put on a show for ya
  21. I generally use soft plastics between 2.5 and 4 inches off the planks. Jig head between 1/12 and 1/6 of an ounce. Favourites include Flick baits,Money minnows, Z-man grubz and streakz
  22. 1080 doesn't help either mate. I'd rather leave old mate home than risk poisoning.
