  1. I can see this being a good way to target salmon http://hackaday.com/2016/05/01/has-mankind-gone-too-far-with-drone-fishing/
  2. Reminded me of an ancient post from 2008... The pictures no longer work though http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/1425-crossing-the-road/
  3. Some S&H branded apparel? http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/store/
  4. Shoot Kelvin a pm if he doesn't see/reply to this
  5. was a lovely trip back in with water coming over the top of the 50' boat
  6. I can confirm any photos uploaded to the forum have their metadata stripped out, which includes GPS locations. This topic has come up in the past, there's a couple of posts about it.http://www.strikehook.com/forum/27-boat-fishing/246780-4m-white-near-port-stanvac?start=15#247950http://www.strikehook.com/forum/5-general-fishing/144432-word-of-warning-about-taking-pics-on-your-phone?limitstart=0&start=15This is all the data in the picture above:http://regex.info/exif.cgi?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.strikehook.com%2Fmedia%2Fkunena%2Fattachments%2F7780%2Fh1a4ca6e.jpg
  7. yep, works very well. You can buy carp slabs from tackle shops, or of course you can catch your own :)cray boats use a lot of carp for bait so I have heard.
  8. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/profile/edit;)
  9. There is a website for them, seahorse i think they're called... Bit pricey but at around $1500.... There's a couple of makes. They are not popular here because we have a hook limit and because they are so pricey, in nz they use them to run longlines from the beach. So not much demand here other than for sharkers etc who will improvise and kayak baits out etc.I'm sure you could rig one up out of an old leccy motor and rc boat hull a lot cheaper than you could buy one.
  10. You want something like our nz cousins use, a kontiki
  11. http://www.regupol.com.au/au/products/sports-leisure/marine-applications/overview-marine-applications.phpapparently this stuff is the duck's guts... would imagine it'd be pricey though.its the same spongey stuff they use on some playgrounds etc these days instead of bark chips ;)stays dry, non slip, doesn't get too hot, its comfy underfoot and easy to clean etc.rubber mats, ute liners etc are the cheaper alternative, but they get hot and can get uncomfortable if fishing for a long time, especially if you are a barefoot fisherman.there are other grid pattern rubber floor options aswell, called
  12. I'd like to remind everyone again that the moderators here are not censors.Anything that conforms to the site policy is allowed, giving negative feedback does not contravene site policy. In this instance I have removed and edited posts as requested by those who posted them.
  13. cannot stand robson green "an actor goes fishing"...adventure bound definitely one of the better shows, not as much of a sponsor whore as other shows as well.ifish and et is all, buy this product, buy that product, pan camera over that product, bit of fishing, buy this product, buy that product etc. "here's a fishing tip... buy this product".... bit hard to take them seriously on much.
  14. Most of this forum is actually publically accessible, meaning anyone could potentially be monitoring this site (including logging the shoutbox if they have a login), what they choose to do with the information is entirely up to them.If someone decides to ban a member from their site for something they said on here, well that's their choice, but it does say something about them.Quite frankly though, we don't care about or what happens on other sites, and if other sites feel the need to monitor this one for whatever reason, well good on 'em...Google is such a crap site and Mark Zuckerberg is a t
  15. There's some real gold on the site if you dig tony (search) ;)Here's a good one.http://www.strikehook.com/forum/42-metropolitan/392-elly-sI'd suggest digging through the old posts, note the months of the year and approx locations etc, then maybe check the historical weather info for water temps etc.
  16. They can get bloody big too.Have heard of people eating them before, apparently not the worst thing in the world but can be a bit mushy?
  17. I sharpened up one of these butter knives to use and without thinking wiped the blade with my favourite t-shirt... it's still my favourite t-shirt, but now with some very nice ventilation holes... :Dbrenton, do you prefer the very flexible version of these knives or the extremely rigid ones?
  18. I too was at waits yesterday flicking lures up and down the beach, left at about 3pm and scored a donut, I put it down to the monstrosity of a combo I was using and the amount of knots I had to untangle ... was not good for casting lures all day.Might have passed you jakdemo on my way out, only saw one other person that wasn't stationary bait/lure fishing.I like halcos and gillies.
  19. just 9 more no's...... :PSeriously, I wouldn't want it open for rec fishing. In a week or two the place would be raped.I reckon the below water structure should be left and open it to diving, that way whatever mini sanctuary that is there is left as it has been for the last 30odd years.
  20. Pretty sure there is somewhere in the Moonta area where you can hire a boat? if you split the costs it works out better than a charter. If memory serves me correctly, Kelvin posted about hiring a boat up there with his brother and father, which meant they could get out in the bay and fish when and where they wanted.**EDIT**ah, the search is a wonderful thing:http://www.strikehook.com/forum/43-yorke-peninsula/175851-port-hughes#175851
  21. Awesome videos, love seeing what's down there. But you wouldn't catch me down there
  22. On closer inspection Perry's Bend is looking more like "Perry's Bell End"....
  23. yeah, what kelvin said.perfectly fine to eat fish out the onk. for some people its just the 'ick' factor coz the onk smells like poo sometimes.
  24. Reckon you might be onto something there Savage.my desal comment was tongue in cheek btw ;)didn't you know that all problems with our marine environment are directly related to the desal? and aliens.
  25. Nice one 4THA. The only strange thing this year is that for some reason they have not marched south very far.... must be the desal, that's down south right?
