  1. gamakatsu 90% of the time and mustad the other 10%.
  2. Your choice should serve you well! I've got that reel and love it. I'm running 8lb on my 2500 and 15lb on my 3000 spool. It won't miss a beat :)Tight lines
  3. Whenever i've seen them spearing they have always been alone but they look too nice to spear so i always leave them alone. They are also quite inquisative when you swim up to them which makes it even less likely i'll spear them :)As TP said i've also heard they are quite old for their size.
  4. One area i would keep clear of is the entrance when the tide is going out. We almost got ourselves in a fair bit of trouble in my mates little tinny. The water HOOTS through a small area! When the wind is up it gets a bit hairy. If you're targeting tuna i'd assume you're in a bigger boat so probably nothing to worry about :)Other than that the bay is relatively hazard free as far as i know.Avoid the pros on the water if they are around as some are complete w#nkers!
  5. I've caught one only once but I've seen quite a few around the place when spearfishing
  6. I bought one a while back and I don't mind it. Works quite well and is very transportable and does the job I bought it for :)I must admit though it is a little stiffer than i'd hoped but considering it is a 3 piece I am not too surprised. I much prefer my tcurve tournament but the 2-4kg 7ft 3 piece raider is a rod I would not be without. The handiest part of this rod is the ability to sneak it past the missus ;)As Jagger said i'd go a heavier for for the barra down the track
  7. Yep big fella That is my preference too. Dogfight and a Catalina and everything smaller is a Shimano except my baitcaster also a daiwa. Both mobs make bloody good reels regardless!
  8. My mistake fella :)Sounds like a bloody great day out!
  9. Awesome catch fella! SBT are on the list of fish I'd kill to catch!!!!I may have read this wrong and I apologise if i have but from what you have written it indicates there was only you and your boss on the boat? If this is the case the limit is 4 fish for two anglers, so lucky you guys didn't keep any more :)Boat limit only applies for three or more anglers (with a few exceptions like crayfish etc.) An easily misunderstood rule but worth knowing for future reference :)GREAT catch again though fella! What gear did you lads catch them on?
  10. I've never understood the whole salmon/salmon trout thing :)The difference between them is 1mm ;)Why don't we have another 'official' name for snapper as they have multiple size/size restrictions. I can't see the benefit as it just confuses people...LOVE fishing for salmon and salmon trout though! They're everywhere and bloody good fun on light gear
  11. I was very surprised when my mate called me but I'm not quite sure how bad the dunking was. All reports say van staals are THE best thing for surf fishing. If i had the bucks to spend my money would definitely be on that
  12. Gave a couple of waxwings a crack today. Awesome action in the water!
  13. I've got a saltiga surf and love it! Quite light for its size too. I can't fault mine but my mates did get a brief dunking the other day and seized almost immediately. But with a quick soak in fresh water it is in the hands of the lads at daiwa getting stripped down and bearings replaced.Great reel though and feels very sturdy, casts brilliantly too.+3 for saltiga surf!
  14. I can't see it being a benefit for too long if it were to be introduced here. The snapper wouldn't have a chance :(Hahaha what's the fun without the hunt!
  15. It's my mates bucks weekend so a charter one day and a lot of fishing and excessive alcohol consumption on the others
  16. Great looking rods there Obvious to see you take the time to perfect your work
  17. Cheers for the responses so far lads :)Anyone else have any opinions?
  18. Ray and Annes is in adelaide. Just shop around
  19. I hunt down something of good quality that's realistic looking and looks like it won't fall apart on me. I do a reasonable amount of research on the net before i buy anything. Price comes in to it to a degree as I won't spend over $25 on a lure because i lose too many :)Does brand name come into the equation for you lads at all? Would you go for something you recognised over a new brand?
  20. That combo should feel great Perfect for the above lure weightsJust wait till you have a cast, you'll be kicking yourself you didn't do it sooner!
  21. Just double checked Ray and Annes and the rod you are after is only $229Haha no dice! Love the rod to bits! Faultless :)I find the rod perfect for the size it is rated for but in rougher surf when heavier weights are required I need to use a heavier rod. At the moment I use my sensor surf with saltiga surf but it isn't comfortable to cast lures all day. So..... This leads me to the desire to run a heavier lure specific casting outfit. Depends on how light you like to flick for salmon and how heavy it gets where you're casting. I prefer the 315 as it is lighter and I generally only throw 20g sl
  22. Pretty self-explanatory lads :)What do you look for when buying a lure for the first time?I was thinking today about the process I go through when I buy a lure i've not used before and what makes me pick it up and buy it.Just interested in your own thoughtsCheers
  23. Got mine at Ray and Annes (was on sale when i bought it) but he has jacked the bloody price back up :(I'm looking for the next size up sea-jigger at the moment but i'm going to hold off until I see the price drop a bitTotally worth the money though! I'm just being tight
  24. I voted liberal but i knew they would lose. Sure enough they lostHahaha i wonder how many people do that
  25. That is honestly how I look at it. My vote doesn't count, not enough people care and look into why they are voting for a party.I vote so I won't get fined. I still vote for what I believe to be the best party but I am fully aware there is almost no point.Sad..
