  2. Thanks for the tip guy's I got 18 squid on the drift yesterday around the spot Scizzors recomended, 1st time I used a jig with a rod as I use to use a float, no more lol I'm now hooked.

  4. Over the next few days the winds are going to be light around Pirie, Weeroona Island and was thinking of squid fishing, it is best to drift with the tide or drop anchor.

  9. Hi All Where in S.A. sells the cheapest vhf radio to repace my old boat radio, Auto Pro has them for $99 its not a marne one would it be ok for the boat. Or has anyone got a good 2nd hand one for sale.

  11. I was heading out there but my mate got sea sick so we fished in the 1st creek past the smelters on the right had side going out, heaps of pussy whiting only got 1 legal size.

  16. Hi All Thanks for all your advice I went out and got a new reel today and 30lb Mono line, going out on Wednesday to try for snapper, was told to try checker buoy anyone have success's there? Also got a descent whiting rod for the boat so fingers crossed. Once again thanks to all that posted the advice give is very much appreciated
  17. Hi Kelvin & Projoe There is no heavy structure's,the line is mono, here is the rod I use for both snapper and whiting. Does color of the line make any differance?
  18. Hi All When I go snapper fishing (not that I catch any bloody snapper ) I use 50 lb line, was told it was to heavy for this area and should use 30 lb or lighter line, any thoughts on this. With whiting I use 10 lb line, should it be lighter? any advice would be great.

Went fishing with a older guy I know around the Pirie area years ago and as people know in this area the boat tends to sway side to side even in light winds, well when we got there he dropped a hunk of railway iron over the side ( about 700 mm long ) and tied it to the back of the boat and the boat never moved a inch. Works good with winds up to 25 knots.   20. Thanks guys for your replies. What I need to know is how much line should there between the paravane to the lure, I have my own paravane and lure ( came with the boat ) I need to tie the line on the paravane then tie the lure on so how much line is needed . Thanks
