  1. My issues were with the 950s,the one that took on after the 9500ss...........I've never used the V series models
  2. USA built Spinfisher and Senators Swedish built ABU Aussie built Alvey And a couple of Shimano baitrunner Japanese built
  3. Plankton has made some very real and valid points in his statement,no denying that from me at all. I like the old school type gear, and that's where we differ.......I had "bad experiences" with some of the newer stuff.........I concede that I was probably unlucky (story of my life really!) and got the "bad batch" etc etc,but that's all experience, good bad or indifferent, you learn from it. I was asked to fact or emotion.........fact,but my opinion only. No arguing from me! Good topic though, and hearing some of the old gear that people loved brings a tear to my eye lol........
  4. My response is based purely on personal experience with those little stickers. I was given a Spinfisher 950 as a present........upon spooling it up,the reel was grinding.......took it with receipt to the store it was purchased from, exchanged no drama. Asked for it to be checked...........same prob........he went through his entire stock, same prob.........took cash back instead. Previously had an Okuma bait feeder reel.......epix 80 from memory.........seized up on its first run! Back to the store, exchanged it with a small cash injection for a shimano baitrunner 6500 B Tried a banax
  5. The little sticker that says "made in China / Taiwan / Korea / Vietnam / Malaysia" is usually the give away..........
  6. AH.... rubber frenchies.............. I really did enjoy my youth..... Not much good if you're Flopy though........
  7. Done this one plenty of times. Size 8 hook with cotton wool on it........bind it on with some cotton, almost a type of fly I guess. Either use as is,or a quick dunk in tuna oil every second or third cast. It's a great method when they are in a berley trail and in a frenzy.
  8. Can't wait for those pics and a report! Go get'em you lucky bugger
  9. Sorry, forgot to mention your great video..........watched it a couple of times now........very envious indeed!
  10. Well done fella, great pics and report. An awesome trip away..........many more like that to come for you too I'd say!
  11. Looks like "glorious conditions" out there at the moment........almost balmy and not a breath. Interested in reports when they come in for sure..........good luck to you who make the effort.
  12. I think you're being a bit harsh on him mate lol
  13. I'm getting my ashes flushed down the toilet.........I've been treated like sh-t most of my life,so seems fitting lol
  14. I bought one about 18 months ago on sale, for about $40 as you have said doobie........it is indeed all stainless in construction, and does the job pretty well for the amount I use it anyway. As Underpants says, the burners are pretty ordinary, and take a bit of fiddling to get them working to their best......mine came with 2 burners for whatever reason, but I only ever use 1........tried 2 burners, but far too much heat, and the sawdust was gone in about 2 mins! Takes a bit of trial and error, but for $40 if you lose interest, well you've lost nothing really. Good luck.
  15. Personally,I wouldn't buy "cheap braid"........I like Fins and Power Pro myself........not the cheapest, but they've never let me down. Others will have their opinions, and they're probably a lot more qualified than me to answer.........but,that's what makes us all opinionated! Good luck with whatever your choice may be.
  16. All of the above. A series called "Giant Blacks and Great Whites" with Malcolm Florence was pretty good for its time too. Just google Malcolm Florence fishing Heaps of clips on YouTube with him in
  17. Not sure what the tides are doing in either spot, nor weather conditions..........I'd be checking those first to try and maximise my chances and then choose an area to visit.........that way, trying to get the most from my hard earned 2 nights off! But then again,we all know there's no rules when it comes to fishing.
  18. Maybe Rob Wilson at South Oz Rods,Greenacres might be worth a shot...........might be able to source one,or have one laying around.......
  19. I like XXX myself.........but that's for another forum and another day........
  20. More to the point that West End is actually beer, and XXXX is just, well, whatever! Old joke is "Why do Queenslanders call it XXXX"?.............because they can't spell BEER To my taste,I'd rather drink Drano, and I'll drink just about anything.........each to their own though. Anyway, back on topic........looks great mate,a banquet fit for a King.........enjoy
  21. That's a good question.........I'd be reckoning a coarse oil stone then a finer one.......don't think I'd want to grind or file it,but I could be wrong.
  22. I've had the same old Horne waders for the last 15 years or so,and they're starting to get a bit thin on the soles,as they are the "dimple" type rather than the boot type.........so looking to upgrade as well. Often wondered about the Mojiko neoprene too......... Good topic
