  1. Completely agree @Des I have always used the Siglon x8 on the flats for YFW, but am slowly shifting over to Siglon ADV as re-spools are required. Only thing I don't like (and it's real 1st world problem stuff) is the lack of a hi-vis colour in the line up. It's smooth, casts well and is good for tying knots.
  2. Surprised the Nedrig doesn't present those upright. I wouldn't over complicated it, standard SP jig head, if anything maybe cut down the SP and use a smaller hook. Good luck
  3. As @Softy said, more fisheries officers, which requires more funding. Education can only get so far with out tangible consequences.
  4. Yeah mate, I currently have a 2500 spooled with 10lb multi colour and a 1000 with 6lb turquoise - I may have actually done it one your recommendation actually hahaha. Initial reactions after 8 months or so, pretty good. Only thing I don't like, because of the colour, is I struggle to see the braid the moment there is any glare on water - so early morning yak sessions or any overcast conditions can be quite frustrating. But knots, smoothness, castability etc. All good and so far no wind knots. If only it came in a Hi-Vis colour like fluoro orange, green, pink etc.
  5. Personally I use Sunline Siglon PE8 and couldn't be happier. I recall seeing some tests done by Steve Morgan on Braid breaking strains and pretty sure Siglon came put closest to it's ladled breaking strain.
  6. I bought a handful of TRD Crawz packs and some Ned Rigs for exactly this @Soobz. Essentially the Ned Rig just presents the SP vertically which arguably helps it "waft" in any available current. There is a specific KGWs on SP podcast on the ALF if your keen. Highlights some tips that may help. You get some good sized KGWs as bi-catch when targeting Bream in WL, down the Trimmer Parade end.
  7. Shame about the fishing conditions. Got to love the warmer conditions though! Any size to your barra?
  8. Do you have a preference for overhead / baitcaster vs spin?
  9. The Sugapop looks a good YFW stick on paper
  10. What rod you going to pair it with @Yorky?
  11. I have fished with a guy who refuses to throw out unused bait, so more often than not he is using re-frozen (sometimes multiple times over) baits. Whether it be squid, cockles or something else and he brains them! I have been on the same boat fishing the same bait for donuts, while he regularly pulls up fish. Quality, fresh bait is always going to be best, but experience trumps everything.
  12. If bait fishing from a boat - Every day of the week. No contest.
  13. Your finishes look pretty good @Soobz well done.
  14. Looks pretty sweet @Soobz will be interested to see how you go with it on the YFW.
  15. Interesting. Might have to get one to try.
  16. Just came across these (assume I'm a bit late to the party here) but as anyone used them? Particularly interested in the "Bender" as a sub $20 Bent.
  17. Quite vibrant colours. Pretty sure I have seen a very similar fish posted on here in the past, so hopefully someone can help you out.
  18. @FECB I guess that could be possible, however I didn't see any evidence of food either during or after. Although it must be said when I sat there, they were almost looking up at me as if expecting something. Either way, good to know there are some genuine brutes still in the system.
  19. On a family walk around Westlakes today and came across the below. Majority of the school was 30 and above, with a few genuine brutes that too the eye were mid 40s!! They were just milling about, with no obvious reason for them to be there. I sat and just watched them for about 15 minutes, completely mesmerised. For those that target Bream often, is this a normal occurrence?
  20. Well if it is their spawing period then that makes sense.
  21. What's the rationale behind that? Do they spawn that time or something?
