  1. Costs Yea we all look at costs, but if we added up all the costs we do in life, we probably end up with depression. Don't look too closely at the cost of fishin, just get out & do it. you'll be healthier, hope fully smarter & may save money from the more expensive hobbies out there. So the negatives are turn into positives
  2. The beauty of marine insurance of an inboard powered vessel that a marine mechanic or shipwright has to do a condition report for the insurance company every 3 - 4 yrs. Any problems or incorrect workmanship has be repaired or rectified. I'd say the timber may have had diesel soaked into it.
  3. Run a busbar for all ya earths or earth it out direct to battery
  4. I don't buy bait these days, squid catches are separated into hoods for the wife, tentacles & heads for bait. Whiting heads & frames are kept for a berley grind up day or snapper bait If I can get onto slimies, even better for bait After a day of fishing all thawed out bait goes back in the bait freezer for the berley mix Every year I end up with about 10 2 ltr buckets of berley
  5. On the day in question I use the Fishing Log program which is based of the BOM site was Outer Harbor 9.20 am - 1.64 mtrs Pt Noarlunga 9.11 - 1.33 To me this is fairly normal as the tides change by time & height up & down the gulf, also west to east of the state The only place that seams to get out of sync from time to time is Cape Elizabeth
  6. GEE. thanks guys, hope to try them out in a couple weeks, always wanted a Swivel's Original SA Fish Measure. Thanks to Fishingwholesalers supporting the site & members PS Strike & Hook too
  7. Found one at the bottom using the search option http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/23112-finessing/?hl=%2Byellow+%2Bfin+%2Bwhiting
  8. Heres one http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/25059-salmon-comp-time/ Found it in the tags below, easy as
  9. I had a Symetre 3000 that started getting very noisy, decided to dismantle it & found it was the bail roller bearing which Sport Fishing Scene had in stock. Replaced, all quite now. The Sienna's have a bushed bail roller & will last forever. glengood87 BCF should replace yours. if your lucky, I do find some braids are noisier than others too.
  10. Was goin, but conflicted with other plans. Will be interesting with such a small ramp area & car park to the point of lanuchin at around 2 am to sleep on the boat untill about 4.30, then head of into the Blue Waters. Goodluck to thoses goin
  11. Fine by me, caught plenty of fish, didn't break, still casted well, bent a couple hooks after being snagged on the bottom, yep must be OK. Next time I'll give it a wax job for ya
  12. Do you put a half hitch on your braid tail moggy? I thought about it... I've been finishing with a tripple, so forms figure 8. Hard to pull tight without slack loops, unless you pull bit by bit and keep the figure 8 formation by pinching it and pulling it away from knot as you go. Or a clove hitch with two turns on final hitch. I'm starting to love this knot more and more! I'm definitely converted now!! I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I tie mine the same as the youtube that I put up earlier with half hitches over the braid & leader, then on to the braid to finish of. Theres
  13. Had to change the leader as the braid had some frayed areas near the leader. Heres a pic of one of my FG knots with half hitches after a year & half of fishin for snapper 30lb braid to 70 leader, the 70 lb leader is used for fishin around razorfish beds.
  14. I've been tying mine with half hitches without any problems, infact I think I would prefer it that way as the half hitches continues onto the main line to give the main line to leader a added protection & smoother transition through the guides. Plus I'm set my ways of tying this knot & would be hard to break a habit.
  15. For tuna I use 30 lb Momoi for stretch when they hit hard, with a Plaited Double to a 150 lb fluoro carbon / dacron wind on leader
  16. Over in the Spencer Gulf for the 40 plus whiting I use a 4 -7 kg Rev. TCurve spin with 15 lb braid & 30 lb leader FG knot of course, then I have a ShoGun Hawaiian Snaps on the leader for swapping rigs. Quite often targeting these whiting there's a chance we'll land a snapper or two. This Gulf I use my Shimano Bushy Bait legend 3 -6 kg with left over 15 lb braid straight to a No 2 Hawaiian snap using a Polomar knot for the throw back whiting, well most of them. Catana 2-4 for my squid fishin, great rod these are.
  17. Usually snapper, but cause of some the areas we fish, you never know what you may hook up, so some stopping power is needed. I know it's overkill, but thats how I like it. My best rod of 3 yrs is the overhead 5-8 kg TCurve & haven't broken it yet.
  18. FG knot for me too, When fishin around razorfish beds, I need decent leader of around 70 lbs to 30 lb braid, never busted this knot, In fact had to tie the braid to a cleat to break of the snagged hook. Casts fine for me with an overhead reel

  20. I hear what ya saying Kon & agree. So far we've only heard one side of the story & that's were a 3 rd party marine specialist comes into play to diagnose the problem, which could take time & repair if possible. It still could be something simple as a water pump, thermostat or even a blocked passage. The proprietor of the company & the mechanics are responsible in trying to give the best service, even if that means saying they are not sure whether they fixed the problem or not & work with the customer. I would of thought a technician would of test run in a test tank with
