  1. Hi All,Trusting that this may be an acceptable thing to do, I am wondering if there is anyone out there with either a position or info on who to contact regarding my gaining employment on a commercial fishing boat. After 23 years of work I was made redundant (I know many have recently) However my partner and I have made the decision to leave metro Adelaide and have moved near to Ardrossan for a better lifestyle. I am very keen to pursue a fishing career on a boat and am happy to be am deckie etc.Any ideas?

  3. Russ

    Snapper day

Sad thing is that it is my windcheater he's using!
  4. Now I know there are many of you out there that have caught snapper and I am sure in greater quantities than me, however i would just like to share Fridays fishing off of O'sullies at the barges. Everything started off typically mediocre ontil my line went apeshit around 10 am, a decent battle then ensued resulting in our landing of a 10.7 kg Snapper for myself, followed a little later by a 12.7kg Snapper caught by the 14 year old son of my mate who were out fishing with me that day. Now I was quite happy with my catch, but it was even more pleasing to heard the excitement in the young lads vo

  8. If you dont want to risk being eaten by a shark, swim in a pool and fish in your garden pond.If society took the view that all those animals that pose a threat should be "removed" what a shitty world we would live in, unless you take the obvious extention to that in that the biggest risk to man is man therefore we should take the human race out of the equasion. Sounds a little extreeme me thinks.me, my wife and son have already agreed that if any of us were taken by a shark (however unlikely the event) there should be no payback/revenge on any shark that happens to be in the area or anywhere f
  9. In another move to aid the fragile river ecosystem, the State Government will pay a bounty of $4.50/kg for European carp carcasses, to help improve the environment of Lake Albert and the Lower Lakes. Southern Fishermen's Association president Garry Hera-Singh, said the Lake Albert area would have become a "stinking mess" from "hundreds and hundreds of tonnes" of dead carp if the Government had not issued the bounty. Fisheries Minister Paul Caica said the lake level was expected to drop in coming months while salinity levels and temperatures were expected to rise, leading to widespread death of
  10. Again appreciate the info guys. Will hopefully have a good update for you when I get back. Looking forward to the trip though.
  11. May have to try somewhere in the vicinity even Ardrossan as suggested. Mike the boats a 6.3 meter Sea legend so should be right for most waters, and CK The water probably would have been my first choice. Thanks. LOL. It sounds a bit patchy on the whole. Appreciate the info guys.
  12. Anyone got any good spots up and around Port Wakefield for fishing by boat or land?Heading up that way in around a month and thought I might take the boat up for a run?
  13. we should all do our best in ensuring that any fish caught should be dealt with as quickly and humanely as possible, be that released back to the water or dispatched for din dins. This concept still applies what ever style of fishing we do, The comment is not against sport fishing. I don't condone Skulldragging either as that can be just as detrimental to the fish. It's not a targeted comment. I love my fishing and would actively encourage anyone to try it, I just dont think that it hurts to add some humanity to it. quickly and humanely is intended in the broarder spectrum ie as quickly and hum
