Just thought i'd put a thread up of some of the other lures i have painted up at the moment. Originally my main goal was to mainly paint the topwater Lures for YFW and sell them just as an hobby sort of thing. However after watching countless hours of Youtube and reading forums I now know there is alot more i can paint/create and not to pump them out quantity wise. Instead getting creative and painting for Quality and doing it more for myself.
Unfortunately I have painted up most of the blanks I originally had. I have a few hundred dollars worth of blanks, films, stencils and bits and pieces i have purchased being held as  the coronavirus hit most of the areas I purchase my gear from. So am waiting for freight companies to resume there services so i can start painting up new lures..
My main blanks I am planning to paint will be for the upcoming season. So will mainly be Trout, Redfin and Salmon lures. I have a range of Stickbaits, and metals for the Salmon. The Trout and Redfin will be a range of minnows perfect for both dams/lakes and creeks and streams.   I will keep you all up to date with the processes and what I create.  In the mean time here are a couple I have painted over the last month or so ....

@Aussie Dave yeah im hoping to do the SWR trip this year/season sharks don't bother me, i seem to catch my fair share of toothies, i did purchase a shark shield this year and adapted it to run off my 17.5 Ah kayak battery, after talking to minni in portland about near misses and it has also been heavily discussed in vyak at times, but yeah it all about the release, how to release them with no injuries to them or myself😉 a lot of my fishing is done with circle hooks so it's a matter or cutting the line as close as possible to the hook🤔 count your fingers after it's done lol

I generally use a 30lb trace which ensures toothy critters tend to bite me off pretty quick as I don't really want to be landing anything too big and toothy in my yak, especially in SA.

Don't worry mate, if your talking about SWR in March, I had no issues up there last year as the sharks that took my mackerel lines with wire traces were only reef sharks to about 5 foot. I'm sure there's some bigger ones around, in fact this one Shane caught was a reasonable size.

This is the rig I used for beach fishing for Mulloway at Middleton, baits were strips of squid, squid heads, pilchards, small whole mullet, salmon trout & even salmon & mullets fillets because they're an oily fish..
    cheers

If you look at my avatar, my Hobie Outback is great for taking the cart with me.
In fact I wont use this yak without taking the wheels as they form the back rest for the seat and my box sits nicely behind them.

I was trying to explain a set of wheels i made for my old yak on a post Softy has started, and thought rather than hijack his post i would post it here.
I got this design from vic kayak fishing (vyak.net), used items. 2 green machine wheels  (kmart $8 each), a length of 12mm allthread, 4 m12 nuts and washers for axel, a length of 25mm ID high pressure pvc pipe, 4 pvc T joiners one 10mm waterproof yoga matt (high density) pvc cleaner and glue, a 1 ltr tin tarzan grip or similar glue. Optional 25mm dowel, to strengthen axel in pvc and spaces as required.
Note the bottom T peices could be attached 90° this is where you would glue a peice of dowel in each side of the frame (and inside the cross peice) to support the axel, the risers must pass though the top of the scupper so you can put a stopper though to stop the wheels falling out when lifting the yak.
When gluing the foam on, both sufaces must clean have glue on them, allow the glue to dry to tacky before joining, then just wrap them around until your happy with the diameter of the wheel, the diameter you require must be taken into consideration when making the frame, make the first secion (risers to first cross member then put this in your upturned yak to measure the spaces for the second (axel) cross member, pay attention when gluing, as once you join the peices they can't be taken apart, when you have worked out the diameter of you wheels thus the hight of the spacer peices, now decide whether you are adding spacers inside the axel cross member or not, as a guide under 20kg you shouldn't need them, if your going to be dragging you 20kg yak and gear over rough terrain then have the T peices on the flat and have one or two spaces inside the cross member and one in the outside of each T peice.
How much padding? The yoga matt padding has to advantages, to increase the diameter of the wheels and make them soft enough to cushion the ride, the bigger the diameter the easier it is to move the trolly, the padding makes it easier to move the trolly over rough terrain, but there's no need going rediculously big on the diameter  (remember it still needs to fit in the car)
Hope this explains the how to 😉

SportFishingScene is where I get my servicing done, usually after them getting drowned in a sand monster.

This what I do for my basic reels, I buy Sienna's for around $40 and servicing is usually about $30 so I just run them into the ground and replace every year or so.
On a kayak where it's always getting exposed to salt and sand so it's not worth using good expensive gear.

Mulloway numbers have declined, that's why they increased the size limit to 82cm a couple of years ago.
Long story short myself and S&H Tony B were invited by FRDC to attend a full day fisheries seminar/course around 4 years ago, that was being run in every state, anyway Professor Mehdi Doroudi (Executive Director Of Fisheries and Aquaculture; at that time) attended also and give him his dues he allowed us to ask him questions (one on one) during the lunch break and I asked him why doesn't the size limit of Mulloway down the Coorong meet their own requirements,

    Size limits
There are minimum and maximum legal size limits for some fish species that are caught with rod and line or other permitted devices.
    Size limits let fish:
reach maturity complete their breeding cycle contribute to sustainable fish stocks. Fish taken for use as bait must still meet size limits.

which he had no answer too but agreed at 46cm the Mulloway are not mature and he would email me a response after he further investigated it. I never got a reply so I emailed him and got some vague answer that had nothing to do with the direct question.
I'm not having ago at those who fish there and keep any legal fish but find it strange that in a known nursery PIRSA set a ridiculous size limit imho.

Not a fan of a license without first seeing the government make a commitment to improving the fishery in stead of the status quo of 'optimum utilisation' or scorched earth policy in fishery management (salt water environment).
I'm like 85% of SA rec fishers that are not interested in fishing the fresh so you can have a license to fish the fresh if you want as this is the only place rec fishers get a look in with current fishery management but keep us salt water fishers out of it.
Also I wouldn't be expecting any new areas opening up in the port as the new Liberal government is handing Cruikshanks Corner to a commercial fishing company, https://ourport.com.au/precinct/cruickshanks-corner/
Seems very dumb to me to create a commercial fishing base in the middle of an area that is planned for high-rise apartments, it's amazing what electoral donations can get you. Not good for rec fishers as this is the only place to launch in the inner harbour and potentially looks up another couple of hundred metres of river front so recs can't access it.
While the government has this attitude to rec fishing, not on your life.
