  1. Back as the soft plastic craze started (during the initial squidgy marketing) I caught my largest ever bream just north of the italian restaurant. We had caught quite a few just over 40cm when I caught my largest ever and still is to this day of 48cm. All the fish were released and this happened in an August, close to 10 years ago now  .It would not surprise me if there is larger fish schooling together. 55-65 I'd need to see a photo to believe it.
  2. I had a pair of spotters and in the first week they fell of my face and shattered, $280 down the drain. To get the lenses replaced was $200. I currently have a pair of Mako's but not really happy with them as they are almost impossible to get clean due to the coating on the inside. I am going to try a pair of Byfield Optics next they seem to look good and are meant to be built tough.
  3. I buy the two local mags plus Fish Life (sucked in by the glossy pics ). I read them at work, helps me ignore the whinging at smoko.I also buy 4wd Action, for the DVD, and actually prefer the Action and Adventure magazine that comes with it as it combines a few of my interests in the one mag.If I didn't read them at work I wouldn't buy any of them.
  4. Thought I had bought this yesterday, but wasn't till I went to read it at home that I realised it was the last issue . Have to go back and get the current one now, it is annoying that tackle shops keep the old ones on the counter when the new edition is out. Guess it's good for the magazine though when they're still shifting stock.
  5. I personally alternate between Spot On Salisbury and Tackle and Tucker St Kilda. I wouldn't use the other shop in Salisbury in a pink fit, not into supporting arrogant condescending people. Pity as his staff may be good people.
  6. I take the schnauzer occasionally but get worried he's going to fall overboard as he has to sit right on the edge of the front of the tinny. Hasn't affected catches so far have bagged on YFW with him in the boat.
  7. Mine has a Shimano Sienna 4000 on it. Is my new favourite Yellowfin rod, have retired the $10 Rex Hunt rods to the shed. Not that there was anything wrong with them.
  8. Them things are like pigeons up here at work, only you don't mind them hanging around.
  9. If it's just for sand look for an auto, don't have to worry about what gear to be in.
  10. With tyres down @12psi my Patrol has never been left wanting in the sand. Once you get a 4wd you'll probably get the touring bug as well and if this is the case for that budget you can't go past a GQ Patrol. The old shape Pajeros are a good bus as well and my brother in law took his everywhere, don't know how they have stood the test of time.
  11. I would say a Patrol but I may be slightly bias . Definitely a tough vehicle for if you want to go touring about the country side. Really depends on what your budget is, stay away from 00-02 Patrols though as they are known to have motor problems which cost big dollars to fix.
  12. Went down there today and got my 300 in about 45 mins, they were quite high up the beach. I just sit on the sand and use the wash to help dig either side of me.
  13. Thought I'd add the links for youhttp://www.yorke.sa.gov.au/content/view/249/319/http://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/site/fire_restrictions/what_can_i_do_what_cant_i_do.jsp#CanIHaveaCampfire
  14. You can still have a fire for warmth and cooking unless it is a day of Total Fire Ban. Obviously uou need to use common sense to judge if it is safe to do so.Check out the district council of Yorke Peninsula as they list their campsites on the website. If you have a 4wd you could try the Coorong on the ocean side?
