I done similar with a length of alloy tube slid over the end of the rack end and an extended tent pole to hold it up. Might be a pic of it in my thread.. can't seem to find one on my phone. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

I've only ever gone a rod length of leader.. Don't like the knot on the spool and possible memory in the leader being wrapped on the spool? Actually surprised to hear you run that much leader Kuerschie..

DIY leashes, particularly for kayaks
Softy replied to Soobz's topic in How to guides and DIY projects
I make up the same myself but with a clip on the other end that I put around the reel stem. Never really had any issues with it getting in the way. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk -
I've not fished it for years LB but from memory i tried once on the low and all i did was get snagged and lose jigs.

That's your second mistake. I've learnt to only use low/mid range gear on the kayak it gets trashed way too easy. First thing I'd be doing is making up some rod leashes or buying some they are cheap insurance. One of my first outings when I got my kayak I went down to Marino and ended up in the drink and lost a couple of good combos and assortment of other things.. wasn't a great day but you learn from your mistakes. I've got a couple of Sumlimated shirts and they do the job just fine. If your watching your cash just wait till stores have sales and and grab them then.

Mine is from Dreamfish also but if you flip the ruler over it should be stamped Fishmaxx.

I use one of the fishmaxx rulers. the fish usually behave while laying on it. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

I used to use a Gomuku Red with a 2500 on it as a snapper rod to chase snapper on plastics. But with a quick rig change it turned into a awesome whiting rod. Well until it went for a swim at Marino. Planning to get another before snapper season opens again to use on the kayak.
