What Soft Plastics/ Hardbody lures do you use/purchase?
Softy replied to southie THE BANGA's topic in General Fishing
Tried some Zman 2.5" Slim Swimz today... Avid 2.5" Grubz user as mentioned but thought i'd give them a go. Never been a fan of paddle tails but loving the action on these, didn't catch anything on either today it was a hard slog But they will be going in the 2 plastic rotation from now on! -
I'm not brand biased when it comes to rod and reels, what ever feels good in the hand really. Price pays a big part of it, I got a Savage Gear rod at a real good price Something i would have never brought but after using it, it seems alright.

I don't buy much these days.. But Zman are my go to plastics because they last for ages. Mainly the 2.5" grubz. -
I'll have to remember that spot if i ever venture there again.

I've heard around the new moon... Yet to catch one so can't really comment.
-
Fantastic eating... One of my favorite fish!
-
Looks a bit heavy for what i want.. Might just get a weedless hook and split shot or something.
-
What jigheads are you using for the weedless on the grubs? Was only just talking about this before with a bloke at work for chasing the Bream in the mangroves.

Few years ago now.

I'm guessing the point of that video is those reels are waterproof?
-
Yeah.. and i saw a video over the weekend of part of a pontoon broken off ... Oh and the dredge against the rock..
-
That is out of control... I'd expect that at west beach boat ramp.

I can use my rod holders.. well sort of but the wheels do rest against the rods and I'm not a fan of it. I've got room for a tub but not used it yet. I can fit a tackle bag behind the back of the seat then anything else I usually slide under the seat. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

Looks pretty good and a damn sight cheaper to build that then what i paid for mine! How do you find the size of the wheels on the deck while out on the water? I usually leave mine in the car unless i have a walk a fair distance to launch.

It might happen one day.... In 20 years by the time we catch up.
-
Maybe you need to dig your kayak out again.
-
There isn't a lot of structure in the onk that Bream like so you have a work to find them i reckon, I caught my first fish today out of there after about 10 trips and it wasn't even a bream just a baby flatty.
-
Soft racks will do the job fine for a swag. I know a couple of people who use them with kayaks and over time the weight has caved the roof in a little. You will be right if only using it for a swag. Keep an eye on gummy/fb marketplace they are always coming up cheap, saw some the other day for $20
-
Never used them myself. Have you tried the fish market place on Grand Junction Rd?
-
I don't have any spots but you can try in the Largs Bay area you will find both just drift around till you find a patch. Squid as well.. Saw a pic the other day on FB of a bucket full of whiting like 100m off the Largs Jetty.

I've only used the 95 trolling from the kayak.. usually used to use it while changing locations at 4.5-5km/h and caught nothing. The other weekend while on the river chasing Callop and trolling lures suited to that was around 1-1.5km/h. I come back here and slowed the troll right down with the DC 1.5-2km/h and got onto a million ST and a couple of bream. So sometimes slow and steady wins the race! But as to how to cast them around... no idea.

I had the red grips one. Can't remember what weight it is. But it handled my 99cm snapper no worries also used it for whiting and squid. very multi purpose.
