  1. I only use cheap stuff so can't really help...

But i think the Rod is more important then the reel if your casting big lures. TBH Cod wont be taking a huge runs.

Something in a 200 size would be the go. I've been using a 150 size reel and from the kayak it's more then enough to tip me over if i put some hurt on it. I have a Savage Gear 200 Black reel i got from a mate before he left the country which will be more then enough to drag a Cod out.

  2. I may or may not have gone for a swim many years ago when a carp pulled my rod into the Torrens Lake in town. Saw it sliding down the bank and chased after it, drove in and grabbed the rod and fought the fish in the water until i got the bank. Handed the rod to Jimmy while i climbed out then finished fighting the fish landing it.

Was pretty funny at the time.... Then the next day they closed the lake due to blue green algae outbreak.

We might have gave a few Coopers Pales a nudge that session also.

  3. The nedrig seems to be the go, but despite research I can't quite see why the nedrig jighead works any different. eg. surely the flat on the nedrig has little effect?

ie. why wouldn't any lighter jig head with smaller hook work exactly the same?
Different presentation with the nedrig. The head having a flat end makes it stand up on its end where as a normal head the plastic lays flat.
