In some glasses, you can carefully drill very small holes at the end of the arms & tie some line or thin cord.

I use 80 pound leader to 30 or 50 pound braid, and have had a devil of a time with knots. Knots failing (even when glued) and knots catching in guides. With my terminal gear, the "Slim Beauty" turns out as a "Nylon Nightmare". Sure, it is easy to tie at sea, and holds well, but boy, oy boy does it ever jam up in the tip and other guides.
There is no doubt of the multiple benefits of the FG knot for such heavy terminal tackle, but blowed if I could remember it, and I seemed to need another hand (at least). There must be jigs out there on Google?
Sure is, and the easiest to use and cheapest to buy is actually an Aussie backyarder by the name of "FG Wizz".
Watching his "how to use" pitch, I was struck that, hey!!, the bobbins he uses look like the washers on my "Laserlite" fasteners from the deck renos, and also that the flexible rods look like pieces of tent pole or old fishing rod.
Hmmmmm, I reckoned I had "the makings" in my shed. Scrounged or saved because "they will come in useful one day".
Tonight, in isolation like everyone else, with the ABC broadcasting nothing but Coronavirus dilemmas followed by Amazonian destruction on 4 corners. What to do?
Well, I made myself a copy of the "FG Wizz". Once the glue sets, I will be tying FG's like a pro I reckon.........
I figure that such a copy might be somehow illegal, but some of you might choose to buy one instead -- so this is free advertising I reckon. The bits and pieces I used are shown here, but comprise only the cup washers from Laserlite screws, stainless flatheads with washer and nut, a piece of broken tent-pole, wall plugs, and a hardwood offcut. This was all I could drum up, but it looks the goods.
The important bit is the "How To" video of the FG Wizz. See

Looks like a "slim beauty" - I havent seen anyone do that cool twisting motion to form the wraps before.

It's a bit of a chunky knot due to the half granny knot in the mono - I remember it was all the rage with Barra fisherman before the FG came on the scene

Yeah we used to fish a beach about 3km long with about 6 distinct gutters on it - It was a long walk in through the dunes before even getting to the beach.

Sending up a drone might have taken some of the mystery out of the exercise  - but it also might have saved some long fruitless walks through soft sand😉

    Quality stuff Captain👍

I remember my old man telling me about spotter planes the Beach netters used to use to find big school of Salmon close to shore.

Those drones would be perfect for scanning gutters.

Some Dodgy pro operators up in NSW are already using them to Target "By-catch"

In the hands of a responsible rec angler they could be a very handy tool to increase catches

It’s not much, but it’s about as far as I got on this lot. I’ve got a tonne of footage and I’d pictured a Spielberg masterpiece, but alas 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thought I’d share a couple of pix shot with the drone from one of my favourite areas to fish. The West Coast 😎

When I was up the river on the weekend I got one of the guys tie a FG on one of my rods while I watched. Being able to see it first hand makes a difference. Just tried it myself and it actually bloody worked first go. Probably not perfect but I'll see how it goes! 15lb braid I think to 20lb mono.

Yeah after doing my own trial last night - I can see a hole in his method - I had 2 rods spaced with the baits spaced 3m apart - with 2 hooks per rig (25cm apart) - one hook had a piece of ENC and the other  a scrub.

One rod barely got touched but the other one 3m away was getting murdered - So if I'd wanted to make one worm look better than the other - all I'd have to do is use one type of worm on each rod and chuck the worm I wanted to win, 3m to the right😉

If I'd kept at it - Manually squeezing the water out of the bedding would have left me with fore-arms like Pop-eye.

But laying it on the concrete for half a day got the job done - it wasnt even that warm and it dried much faster than I was expecting - the wind must have helped

Thanks Captain - Yeah if it was just a holding bin, I wouldnt be so concerned but I want them to breed in there.

I've since been informed, that the bedding material is still way too wet - so I'm going to lay it out on the concrete and dry it out - but other than that - It should be good.
