Hi Patrick, yes you can go left of the ramp and upstream towards the mundoo barrage...plenty of good spots to pull a bream from along the way.I ate a 35cm Bream from there a couple of seasons ago and it was the best tasting bream I have ever eaten

wow, what an ugly bugga mate! Looks like a cross between a John Dory & a leather jacket. I dare you to eat it LOL
-
take it easy joe, hope it all goes well for you

plenty on the market besty but make sure you buy from an Australian manufacturer as they need to be be big & strong to handle a cod.Brands to look for include bassman, mudguts, lurestrike, ballsnAll,auspin, sweetwater, lureproject, weavers lures, snapback....personally I like a twin colorado blade setup on a 5/8 oz jighead fished with a soft plastic & stinger hook.Best to keep a variety of different weights from 1/2 oz to 1 oz & blade configuarations (willow & colorado) in your tacklebox to suit the different conditions you may be faced with, eg depth & current.whilst you're a

my mate lives there...& has a tractor....but won't be pulling him out -
If I had to spend $400 on any combo I would spend $100ish on the rod & the rest on the reel. The markup on rods is insane. Not only that you can snap a shimano t curve just as easily as you can a penn pinpoint & there ain't much difference between the 2 if matched with a nice reel. It is far easier to feel the difference in quality between a $100 reel & a $300 model. At least Daiwa or shimano will give you a 5 or 10 year warranty on most of their range. The key is getting a nice balanced outfit that will cast the ultra light bream jigheads & hardbodies good luck & happy sh

Mate I'm glad you managed to get yourself & the rig home relatively unscathed mate. None of ours were tampered with fortunately but thanks for ringing Joel & giving us the heads up before we headed off.I have my suspicions on who it may have been & they can think themselves very lucky they didn't have to deal with the 5 of us had they been caught  Ps: can you send me a pic of your scarred lure, I'll pm you my email addy.cheersSimon

Here's my 3, again not the largest of each species I have caught but they were the fish that gave me the confidence to stick with it knowing it could be done!First Murray Cod on a lure, on a trolled Oar Gee Plow upstream of Robinvale in 2007. After the high fives & back slapping finished I dropped the lure back in & nailed another one immediately Next one is my first EP caught on a HB (sx40f) in about 2 ft of water in the Glenelg River (special thanks to nextcast for the coaching )Finally a 73cm snapper that slammed a Jazz blade first time I had given it a swim Was very lucky to get

In the late 70's when visiting my grandparents I used to enjoy mucking about in the workshop banging together bits of wood & nails to make all sorts of crap. There was never a shortage of either as both my grandfather & one of my uncles ran a family carpentry & joinery business. I noticed that there was a lot of fishing gear stored in one corner of the workshop which belonged to my grandfather & my uncle who still lived at home at the time. The outfits were pretty heavy thinking about it now, big Daiwa eggbeaters on 7-8ft glass rods as well as a few early ABUs & at least on

can they be frozen? Obviously not as good as "live" but just wondering if anyone has had success using dead nippers?

some great info here.I can say that I have been using the Pex Braid for a few years now & it has not let me down. I have landed Stingrays, Snapper, Mullies & Cod on the 30lb without any dramas. Sure the colour fades but I don't think the fish give sh*t I have also been using the Berkley Fireline for years in 20,10 & 6lb which has served me well. Again as previously mentioned not as supple as other brands but has not let me down either.
