  1. Don't worry mate your not the only one to struggle when it comes to fishing for bream especially in West Lakes. I have been using plastics and bait for bream, this biggest issue with fishing in West Lakes the residents over feed the bream, they grow up with being fed pretty much every day. I am yet to hook a bream in west lakes on a plastic as I refuse to use weightless jig heads. I got told that if you use bread roll it up into a ball put it on your hook, dunk the bread in the water so you get some weight on the hook, then you can cast out alot further bream would love that. Th
  2. Cheers mate yeh definately happy with those, I didnt realise for kgw its actually better to fish low tide as they are really common in shallow water. haha yeh mate I was soo happy I was just like ooh reckon im on here! yeah the fellas on the rocks always kept cracking the joke, "I have enough trumpeters here to start a band!" is there anyway I can prevent catching the shitties? so the whiting can have a crack? No worries pitty the holiday ended so quickly, glad to get back before every man and his dog decides to leave on the same day, the roads would have been so busy for E
  3. Hi all, So just got back from the holiday manged two salmon one 38cm and the other 40cm off the rocks and a small fiddler ray probably round 60cm I caught three small flatty's and some kgw whiting mostly bloody trumpeters but I managed a couple of salmon trout and a mullet off the shore. I also managed my first flatty on a small savage gear pencil lure which was exciting as this was the first time I had used the lure so I didnt really know if I was using it correctly, all I did was rod tip down and slow wind then bam little flatty jumped on. Still beats adelaide fishing jus
  4. Thanks mate I'd be more than happy with some salmon, any chance I can get whiting off the beach? Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  5. Hi Kelvin, Thanks for your input honestly I thought id rather be overkill than under kill and lose the big fish.
  6. Hey all, I'm heading to port Vincent next week just for a short trip only be there for three days. usually I'm a yak and land based fisherman, but I went out and bought some new surf gear including rod n reel and tackle. Surf Rod : Shimano Aerowave 13" 3pc Surf Reel : Shimano Baitrunner 8000D Main line : Nomad Pandora X8 65lb Leader : Black magic 100lb Leader knot : FG Knot bait : Small fish and squid I'm just curious on two things one hows the fishing for surf fishing over there? and two can I get away with using Star 4 sinkers rather than the g
  7. Yeah I dunno Ive been out in my yak and I was constantly getting nothing, switched to bait and then bam on straight away. I was told to go even lighter and try using gulp Bloodworm 1/28 to 1/32. Cheers that was at North Haven not West lakes lol. Sent from my CPH1851 using Tapatalk
  8. Yeh I know they are there because as soon as I whack on some bait it gets smashed. I think as well the biggest problem is the lakes are over fed, because of the residents feeding them constantly on a daily basis. Sent from my CPH1851 using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah maybe I'm throwing too heavy in the lake I throw between a 1/16 to 1/20. Problem is if I use a lighter jighead the Zman just floats on the top of the water. I got some hurricane grubz to try out all I can do is try that and see how I go. Sent from my CPH1851 using Tapatalk
  10. Yeah definately understand what your saying I must be doing something right I fished at North Haven in my yak landed my first 28cm bream on plastics. Just like others have suggested they are just over fed by residents. Below I've attached two pictures of my first bream. Sent from my CPH1851 using Tapatalk
  11. Yeh your not wrong West lakes just over Fed feels like a waste of time. Sent from my CPH1851 using Tapatalk
  12. Hmm Ive managed to hook a bream on Zman grub 28cm but when I try same thing at West lakes nothing happens bloody weird. I have caught salmon trout on them as well so I know I can do it just West lakes seems to be a rather touchy place to fish. You either fish really early then that's it, West lakes makes me get really discouraged for fishing. Anyone had any luck fishing at thompsons beach been crabbing there but never fished there before. 13. Having issues when going for bream in West lakes not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have the right gear just the bream won't bite, I've watched countless retrieve videos for catching bream on plastics had no luck. Tried switching to surface lures on mono and still same deal no luck. Even tried for whiting and you guessed it no luck. Any people from Adelaide care to meet up and see what I'm doing wrong. I'm using a 2-4KG rod with 6lb leader and braid with 1/20 jigheads on Zman grubs. Anyone know of any POV style of plastics as the professional ones don't help what so ever
