According to the video it's been sold back to a Dutch joint venture partner and is no longer registered in Australia. The key words here, both written and spoken are, "two years".I have NO doubt that when this time elapses we will see another attempt to get it back working in Australian waters. There's a fair chance that by then we will be under a different government. I'm sure hoping that they will also ban this monster from decimating our fish stocks.Cheers, Steve.

"box of snapper gear" would consist of assortment fo swivels and hooks and sinkers.. depending on your rod/rigs change a bit in size. you can buy some basics such as 4/0, 6/0 hooks, large swivels and some 3-4oz sinkers depending on your casting weight of line/rod.and yes outter harbour has snapper off the rocks.. as does a few of the jettys in the right conditions..

If you went to glenelg jetty tonight and cast as far as you can into the teeth of the wind you would stand a chance but you would have to know your onions and have the right gear as well as a good deal of patience. cheers brenton

Have a look at the Snapper Shimano Raider. From memory...7'6", 4-7kg but feels like it could pull a horse backwards.Used it for chucking salmon lures around the beach as well. It's caught quite a few mullies and snapper for me and for around the $100 mark great value for money.I've got mine fitted with a 4000 Freams Kix and love the combo. Sure a C14 would feel pretty damn nice on it as well.

Assuming your talking about calypso Star Shark cage diving..it costs $50 bucks for the DVD of highlights and stock footage. but there is a way to get that for free we offer the DVD free as part of the package when booking the shark diving via Nullarbor traveller for our Passengers.. ive done it as has my girl. we both loved the experience. we did ours in June. 8 sharks up to and a bit over 5m with us all day.they have had a slow few weeks. but it seems the sharks are coming back in. Could be something to do with pupping season of the Australian Sealions. i know the Bairds Bay Populati9on is starting to pup at the moment. Maybe the Neptunes colony is too???

It's just that short stretch from the carpark to the beach which is the issue, and the Adventra is an all wheel drive, not a 4wd designed for this type of thing.I was there a few weeks back and it's really soft.Instead of the Pajero which eats it up, I took the Suzuki Grand Vitara which IS a 4WD, although it has bugger all ground clearance, and I got it bogged by slowing and trying to slowly get around someone else like yourself who tried taking an all wheel drive through there and didn't make it. For me it was no problem, as I just needed to dig out a little sand from behind my wheels, get a push from a couple of helpful bystanders to reverse up a few feet, then take a decent run at it once the bogged vehicle was towed out of the way.If you're gonna attempt it, lower your tyre pressures right down, get a head of momentum up, and keep that momentum going at all costs..........as soon as you stop, you'll be buggered, you wont be going forwards or backwards, and it'll be time to start digging and seeking a tow. Might pay to also have a spotter out, just in case a vehicle is coming the other way as you make your barge through, coz your tyres aren't designed for low pressures like 4wd tyres, you'll have bugger all steering in the soft sand, and you have to keep your front wheels straight to prevent sand piling up in front of them when you turn the steering wheel. It'd pay to have a chat with another 4WD owner who has a snatch strap to get you out, before you head through.Be careful of ground clearance, but if you see tyre ruts, it'd be best that you position your wheels in them and just go for it.Once you cover that 50m, you're on the beach and you'll be fine until time to get out again. The call is yours alone! Any damage though, insurance wont cover you for going off road!Me personally, if it were my Adventra, I'd be leaving it in the carpark. If you're heading down there for cockles, there is another alternative though.Everyone hits the beach from that carpark and heads south.Instead, take the Goolwa back streets, before you turn to the Goolwa Beach car park, coz just north of there is another road that ends in a cul-de-sac (look it up on google maps). You can park in that cul-de-sac on the bitumen, walk over a small dune, and you're on the beach a few hundred metres north of the carpark.....plenty of cockles there too, coz everyone is further south! Now don't go telling everyone.....instead, let's just keep this between you and me! And if ya get plenty, keep in mind that Ranger enjoys a good feed of cockles! Also, if you're gonna eat them, take plenty of salt water to purge them. Leave them in cool saltwater for at least 18-24 hours, preferably suspended, so that when they spit out all the sand it can fall to the bottom, without them sitting in it. If you're gonna leave them longer you'll need a change of salt water, as it will go stagnant and kill the cockles. In regard to Goolwa beach, plenty of 4WD's also get stuck there, coz the drivers don't know what they're doing. They try to get through with fully inflated tyres, and in low range 4WD.Instead, they should be reducing tyre pressure, leaving the thing in HIGH range 4WD, and getting a head of steam up to push through....then they'd find little to no issues.

The worst part is the first 50m from the carpark to the beach, from then on it's all smooth sailing..........in fact you'll find it to be a highway with just as much traffic.Regardless of what anyone chooses to tell you, reduce your tyre pressures when driving on the sand, if nothing else to prevent chewing it up for others.Remember you're speed restricted, coz the beach is classed as a road, so keep it down to 45kph and keep an eye out for kids.If/when the sand gets soft, keep the momentum going, and keep your wheels straight.DO NOT use low range....it's a mistake many make. Stick it into 4WD high range, and away you go.Driving in the damp sand will be much easier than driving up in the dry, but remember to park high in the dry sand, coz you dont wanna get caught by the incoming tide.Be wary of the current if you go wading in at the mouth, it's more dangerous than it looks. Is this the time I should tell you about the mully fisherman wading in the mouth? The one standing in waist deep water who tied his first mully to his belt as he continued fishing? The same one who felt a tug, then looked down to see he now only had half a mully tied to his belt?

my point of view, the integrity of the blank is compromised by the plastic?? hand grip.. if the rod was to go straight through and this additional "grip" was a separate attachment to the rod the blanks strength/flex wouldn't be as compromised and there for a bit better...i still wouldn't buy one..

TBH these made me laugh when I saw them. What happened to the traditional fishing rod?? And I think Del is onto something in regards to blank integrity. There's a big weak spot between the hand grip, butt section and the main blank. The plastic (or whatever they used) would want to be seriously UV stabilised and strengthened otherwise, 1 season (or less) and snappo!

The LCD screen on the go pro 2 was quite helpful in some situations but in others highly in practical. for things like underwater filming, for instance filming sharks, tuna, etc. i would highly recommend using one but after that theres no need due to the point in a gopro is to mount it too something so it can see exactly what you are doing. for instance whilst ur fishing you dont want to have to worry about where you are pointing the camera (therefore looking at the lcd screen) aswell as winding in the fish, same with spearfishing, bike riding and whatever, this is what the gopro is built for so it can be mounted somewhere to catch exactly what youre doing. if the main reason you are buying a gopro is for the use of taking 'pretty pictures' and capturing the perfect film then the gopro isnt worth your time.worded badly but my point is if you have enough time to look at an LCD screen you mine as well just have a camera.

not a bad pressey! the crew at Calypso will look after you. Andrew/simon on the shark boat with probably Brooke, they have water proof cameras available on the day. and take all the footage from multiple cameras used and place it on a dvd with videos etc. unsure of the cost for regular patrons.. but through our touring company its a freebie at the end of the trip. Swimming with the tuna is also great fun.. make sure you check out the inside netting.. with all the other fish.. not just the outter netting with the tuna! PS even if you dont ever get seasick... its worth taking a pill.. ive seen quite a few people who " never get sea sick" end up seasick while out on the shark boat.. its a bid day.. in often BIG swell! Im also interested in a new camera after my Olympus utough 8010 died recently.. i have 7 spare batteries for this camera so am looking into a similer camera again. but the Go Pros do come with a good reputation.

10L water bladders from woolies are good.. if you got the freezer room.. solid ice bricks that can be used for drinking if they melt after a few days... depends on how long your trip is. if its just one day trips a bag of ice and a couple of 2l coke bottles frozen should see you through no worries. if its extended days of camping.. SOLID ice is the only choice. and a good quality ICEBOX will see you through. Techni-ice SHEETS are also a usable option if you can have the amount of storage required for them.. ive bought 100 sheets off ebay for a good price.. sometimes i use them if its only a day use job.. but i find they never last long either.. just no mess when using them.
