  1. Your obsession has just got unhealthily worse mate. You will now spend hours and hours sourcing materials that are near impossible to come buy and shell out unreasonable amounts of money on said materials. You will then spend the same unreasonable amounts of time on tying said flies and never ever think about using them simply because at more than $50 smackers per fly, you simply could not justify it.And yet i am still jealous as hell. The patience needed and time spent on all aspects of it is phenomenal. And i cant wait to see what stuff you produce.Keep us posted.PS , i need to have a chat to
  2. 3wt and under. But it seems the "extremists" of the sport are down grading it to 2wts and under to make it more elitest .
  3. Projoe, that would be a great idea. Back a few years ago when i couldnt tie to save my life[not much has changed] I would pop into that store and top up a few dries before going for a fish in the hills. In fact my favorite little reel for my twig came from the display cabinet in your store over eight years ago, i got it for a bargain and it still works a dream too.
  4. What fishnuts said. The problem here is there is no "local shop" that can really help you, just the one store that even stocks fly gear worth looking at. Interstate , shops have rigged up demo rods for you to try to see what you like a "try before you buy" system. I would take your time speak to as many people you can that own fly rods and keep saving that money. The more people you know the more setups to try, the better idea you will get of what you like and want over time. Cheap gear is the death of most people starting out, combine that with no one to give casting tuition in SA and it real
  5. This is only going to get worse. Emu is coming on here on their own and portraying the issues they have. As a local and as a father. Being the fact that this particular forum has the people involved that were involved in the initial incident, this is a decent forum to act like adults and not children.Emu could have let it slide and simply called a meeting of all locals and fronted to the council. With enough signatures every one is cactus , not just the crew involved but everyone whom chooses to have a crack at a few bronzies from this particular place or even worse anywhere else. That being sa
  6. Well said AFF and Jack. I am on the side of the sharkers but most are doing themselves little favours by posting what some are on here. We have a local whom is concerned about the welfare of his kids and others from his town, regardless of if his understanding is a little wrong , and then you get a few defensive fishos who pretty muchset at instigating more crap by saying "well i will be there this weekend lets see what happens" seems more like some want to make things worse rather than better.Use your brains boys and let things cool off for a while. It is obvious that a group of fishos challe
  7. Its simply media beat up, something that always happens after a couple of close attacks. They gotta sell papers and get viewers and such a debate is sure to get the blood flowing from both sides. Remember when Jevan was killed at Blacks the day after the kiwi fella at caves, two locations pretty far apart and the media jumped on board by saying it was the same "man eating" shark. This was impossible. The cull call was made straight after and a few people even went hunting around the bay there to no avail.Personally i think us berleying up the water and bobbing around in cages in blood soaked

Nice fish mate, were you using an intermediate line there? I am keen to go have a crack while they are are around. I think you have just keened me up!
  9. Fly Casting Day with Peter Morse - Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Master Casting InstructorWhether you’re a beginner or an advanced caster we all have something to learn. I think the best thing we can learn are sufficient skills to be able to analyse our own cast (or a mates) to the point where we can figure out what’s going wrong and correct it. There are 5 Essentials to good fly casting – with just one of these Essentials missing you can’t throw a good, effective, and efficient cast.- No slack in the line.- The correct stroke length for the amount of line you
  10. Mate, it will be held on the 31st of july and the venue is yet to be confirmed , looks like somewhere near the patt, Glenelg way from what Morsie has said. He is getting all the info sorted now and i will post it here once it is confirmed, if you would like to contact him personally send me a pm and i will forward you the info needed.
  11. The venue for this year will be different, reason being is that having it at a place like the last one you tend to have people that stop by and watch or even worse stand behind a caster making for broken concentration and people getting offended when they are told they are hindering the clinic. As the choice was last minute Peter is still getting the right venue down[there may be a chance to blind flog for some three eyed bream if the proposed venue goes ahead] and then will set a flyer up, as soon as i get it i will post it here for any interested parties.Generally , you obviously need a fly
  12. As of this stage, it will be held on the 31st which i think is a sunday. As for the venue it has not been mentioned yet, i sent Peter an email today and he did not have one planned, but a little bit of interest goes a long way and he has decided to hold it again despite being very busy. As a self taught fly caster my skills are limited and with so many bad habits i need to get my casting deconstructed and reconstructed regularly and more so now i am trying to cast heavy clousers ect in the salt.To anyone who is in the beginning stages of fly fishing or someone who needs to improve a few small
  13. Have just heard from Morsie that there will more than likely be a casting clinic right at the end of July, the clinic will go for the entire day and will be $150 per person, and he will have some time the day before for one on one tuition if that is of any interest. As we do not have an accredited casting instructor here in SA its a great way of getting any bad habits pointed out and general casting bettered by a pro. I know i need the help!Once its concrete i will either post it up here or forward the forum to Peter so he can post up contact details ect.
