  1. Nice work mate. Good to see a few land based blueys being caught, they look like they're a good size. Gotta love a feed of fresh crabs. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
  2. Nice work Jack, there's not many metro capitals that can boast the wild life that we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep, I hope they found the injured seal. Last time I was on the end of the break water there was at least 8 seals, including a few young ones, so they're doing well. :cheer:
  3. Nice one Brenton, cheers for that.I cooked one in the webber the other day with the scales on and just peeled the skin with all the scales after cooking, work a treat. luv cooking in the webber.Cheers
  4. Hi all,How long can you keep a whole Snapper in the freezer for? It went in on Sunday and I was hoping to keep it in there until Australia Day. Is it still going to be great to eat? Thanks for any advice.
  5. Hi Cooki, I have just bought a Sienna 4000FD and christened it with a big snapper on a charter on the weekend and it performed like a dream, spooled with 20lb braid and 30lb leader. Like I said, I haven't had it long but so far I'd have no problems recommending this reel. Cheers.
  6. Top work Tom. Great fish. I wouldn't mind a suprise like that. Cheers.
  7. Nice looking fish. Your lad looks stoked with his efforts. Great work taking him out.
  8. Beautiful fish mate, top photo, cheers.
  9. First night of every trip = T-Bone steak, baked beans and a couple of fried eggs, all done on the same hot plate, an eski full of beer on ice, sit back and enjoy.
  10. Yeah I'm seriously hoping for a staunch Snapper, for me and my son. I reckon we've got a chance on the Charter Shauno has organised, especially with a bit help from the some of the snapper Gurus on board. Bring it on.
  11. The jetty is good for XL tommies, trevally, salmon trout and whiting. Local beaches are good for salmon and more XL tommies. Beautiful part of the world. Talk to the caravan park owners for the best local info. Enjoy, and let us know how you go.
  12. If you have got a smoke box, smoked tommies are fantastic.
  13. Thanks Ranger, as i remember we caught heaps of smaller ones on SPs, maybe the females, all were returned unharmed, as we weren't sure of their eating qualities, sounds like we made the rigth choice. Cheers.
  14. Sorry, not sure what's going on with trying to attach a photo. I'll try again later.
  15. Hi. Does anyone know the name of this fish. I can't find it in my reference books. Thanks. [img/]
  16. Tested the Kiwi fruit theory out last night, 3 tubes, wings and tentacles in 1 Kiwi fruit for 2 hours and the same again without the Kiwi fruit. It was defiantly more tender after being in the Kiwi fruit juice/pulp. My daughter reckons it's the best squid she ever had. Happy days.
  17. and warmer months with calmer conditions have been more successful for land based Gar fishing
  18. A bit of bait movement by you or the by the water helps keep them biting, keep the berley going but not so much that they fill up on it and not your bait, change baits if they go off the bite. Gotta love a feed Gar, good luck.
  19. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. If I have any success I'll take some photos and try work out how to put them on here.Cheers.
