Went to fish factory today and came home with a 20kg box of aussie salmon for $60. Pillies were $80 for 14kilo. Should get 2-4 baits out of each salmon and frames will be going in a onion bag for burley

What is the best method for collecting bait At salt creek? In the case I cannot find any bait at salt creek. I'm assuming squid heads are the better frozen bait, and where could I source a decent amount of this?
-
+2 for Saltiga Surf I have the 6000. brilliant reel
-
yeah sure are great reels, i have the 2500 model, for ruggers and the usual smaller species
-
ah yeah, i havent had a look at the TCurve revolutions yet. But the Twinpower 5000 are a great reel, i have 2 of them that get used as snapper reels on the boat.BTW i have just ordered a 14ft Daiwa Sensor Surf that should see water in the next few weeks

Cheers for the info guys, i reckon i will stick with the sol3000/315 Seajigger combo.
-
i have lighter version of that combo and have caught up to 5lb sambos on it and such a nice combo, but just feels like i need to wind faster than possible
-
thanks for the help guys, i love the SOL3000 but it seemed i couldnt wind fast enough, though last trip to Browns i cleaned up on fish up to 4lb so maybe im overreacting?Anyway im getting another Seajigger, a 305 this time, so maybe ill go a bit bigger on the reel, maybe a 4000 or 4500 sized reel
-
Hey guys, just back from Browns and have come to the realisation that i need a new reel.I have been using a Daiwa SOL3000 on a Seajigger 315. Problem is, is that it is way too hard to crank the 60gm metals fast enough to get a strike, so I am after a reel, the same size or maybe a little larger than the SOL, but with a high speed that i dont have to exhaust myself trying to get a hit.Any ideas? Price no object, nor is brand, just a small spinning reel of good quality with a high speed retreive

I have a Spheros 14000 with the full upgrade, consisting of stella-style handle and better internals. This thing has a great drag, really strong, a powerful rubber handle that fits perfectly into you hand and really lets you crank. I have it spooled with 50lb jigman mulit-color braid.Just saying that overheads are not the only option. Chuck it on a 9-10ft rod and it would be near unbeatable for a powerful combo on a budget.

just fished St Kilda for some STs but only one found the hooks. Bloody hell the Seajigger casts a mile, and i think i'll be changing to singles to try to get rid of some of the weed out there
-
hey all, I'm relatively new to salmon on metal, and after picking up my new Seajigger 315 with a SOL 3000, i have realised i might as well try to find out the best method. What is YOUR recommended/favorite retrieval style for metals, and also favorite brands and styles
-
Well just picked it up, and the 5000 is way too big for it, but good news is is that the 3000 SOL is perfect on it
-
good to hear. I reckon that the 5000 might be alright then as the difference between the 4000 and 5000 is just a bigger spool (apparently)

nah mate, it s a 10' surf rod targeti9ng sambos
