I know its unsporting but I run 30lb braid on my 4000 reel off the shore. It helps me yank my sinker out of the snags on more than one occasion! I've had good experience with Sunline and PowerPro.

Ended with the normal certate. It is the smoothest reel - even smoother than a current model stella (we've got both, tested side by side).

Grazz - is the rod a blade n tail live fibre? any good?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a shimano man myself, and currently use a twinpower 4000, which I love and have no need to swap. This is for the old man ... I'll let you know how it performs.

Thanks. I think I also saw something about a new sol being released. Daiwa has released a lot of reels this year.
