  1. Nice session Simon. Picked a nice day with the "Decky". Water clarity looks great. Thanks for posting.
  2. Got a nice 21 lb Mully from the southern breakwater many years ago. Was having no luck on the bream, so caught a salmon trout and chucked it out at the entrance to North Haven on a single 2/0 hook, no sinker. 5 mins later my line was disappearing out to sea. The Mully eventually came back in through the entrance, with boats heading out to sea, was worried they would run in to my line, but luck was on my side, and another angler managed to gaff it for me. I was stoked, as it was my first decent Mully. :D :D The Mully was caught on the last of the run out tide.
  3. If you launch at Garden Island , ramp its free. Ive had no problems there, as long as you park during daylight hours. Plenty of people about to watch out for any thieving low lifes. If your new to the area, suggest you have a good look around at low tide. All the channels, creeks in to the mangroves will be clearly seen for future reference. This time of year is great if you want a feed of salmon trout. Fish where the mangrove creeks join the main channel. Fish the last half of the run out tide. Should get plenty. Canoe SA put out a great little map of Barker/Angas inlets. Includes all the

  10. :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:Some of those protective plastic covers are a bugger to get off to! ::)Nice one L.L.Thanks for sharing that. The pressures of competitions does things like that, even to the top anglers. Bit like leaving your bungs out of the boat, when launching. :o :icon_lol:

  12. Dave, i didn't think the cattie would take a lump of metal either. :oKept on swimming around my captured Reddy, thought it might grab the whole lot ( fish and net) : so decided to scare it off by sending the spoon down. ;)As soon as the spoon landed on the bottom that cattie swam straight for it, and picked it off the bottom. :icon_lol:Put up a good fight on 4lb line ;D ;D
  13. Great post there Brenton, :icon_e_biggrin:Was shown a few years back how to do it, but because i don't fish for gar regularly i forget "how to do it " :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:Was told the old bone handle knives with" made in sheffield" on them were the best. ;)So hit your local Op Shop, etc and grab any you can find. ;D ;DI will be able to refer back to this article next time i get some Garfish. Thanks for posting it up Brenton ,and Ranger for helping out ;D

  15. Good on ya Weaver, ;DThose horses don't give you any room for error in that area :(I generally use a heavier leader down there. ;)The more times you fish an area, the easier it is to locate those horses. ;D ;D ;DCongratulations on "Cracking it" :icon_e_biggrin:
  16. Nice size YF Bream there Coight. :DYou up there for long ???At least the locals up on the Goldcoast tolerate bream fisho's luring close to their boats/pontoons etc. :)Bit of mutual respect goes a long way ;)Congratulations once again , and i hope you get many more while your there. You lucky Bugger ;D

  20. Thanks for all your comments guys. :)The spoons i use come from the U S. Very hard to locate them in Adelaide these days as there is very little demand for them here. ::)If you travel interstate you should be able to pick up a few in tackle shops near Trout fishing areas. ;)Previous PB was 61cm.Unknown weight. It may take awhile to beat this fish but you never know.... :fishing:If you want a good chance to catch callop of this size close to Adelaide, i can only suggest you join SAFWAA. (see club forum) ;D ;DOnly joined last year and having a absolute ball of a time on the club dams. Great scene
  21. Thanks TonyB, I just wish that fish could have had a few stripes down its side :icon_e_surprised: :stir: :stir:Then your heart would have missed a beat or two :icon_lol: :icon_lol:4.9kg Reddy........I'D like to see that : :icon_lol:Luke-Westlakes....Sure was a fatty, probably female and full of eggs, which is why it was released unharmed to fight another day as per club rules.Lets the big breeders do their stuff :icon_e_biggrin: :icon_e_biggrin:I'd rather take a picture, than feed on a corpse!!! ;D
