  1. Some more videos from Giant Bluefin in Italyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laOdAYSG3PIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w3XOzqiYWo&NR=1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7PNvHIzC8c&NR=1
  2. I don't think so, I have not even touched that tuna. But as it was caught on my boat in Italy I thought I would send the photos. Hopefully next year, when I am there for a month, I can get a shot at one! In the meantime I will keep hoping to get one here around Portland or Port Mac, where they have been caught to around 120kg. Though not very common.Opti
  3. Here is a bluefin caught in Brindisi, Italy from my brother's boat last October. Adriatic Sea in Italy with Nova Scotia is one of the best hunting grounds for Giant Bluefin. New Zealand is catching up fast too these days. In Italy they have been caught to over 1000lb!!!
  4. In this video our first successful trip on bigger snappers. As mentioned in another post we ended up with 5 Snappers between 6 and 12kg and we caught a monster Blue Morwong of approx 10kg Unfortunately though at that time we did not really appreciate that this was the real great fish of that trip!Enjoy,Optihttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZgRvSiLPsUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTtbAGRre_o
  5. hi ranger, enjoyed your post and comments. As I said, I am just not interested in fishing GWs. You are probably right, fishing for them would not make things worse, but my question was, will it make things any better? Honestly I don't think it will make anyone in swimming/diving or boating on a 12 feet boat any safer! As you all might realize I love fishing too, as the cherry on top! Boating and the contact with the ocean is what I really enjoy the most. This is why I love boating/fishing. A long time ago` I used to go hunting, but while I would not mind shooting a Roo, or a Fox or a Pig, if s
  6. Here is pict three This was in 1993. These were the day of 5 large Snapper as Boat Limit. We brought home our 5 + the Bluewi but due to our inexperience, never actually realized that the best fish of the day was a 10+ kg blue rather than a 12kg Snapper! Keep your eyes out for the video of this trip, coming soon.Opti
  7. I am sorry guys, got caught with some work and cannot get the video off yet. So in the meantime I thought to upload some snapshots from the video, as the Bluewis you are posting are just to small and kept to far away from your bodys!!! That is called trick photography! Here is pict one
  8. Hi again guys, I am a bit disappointed that nobody attempted to reply to my earlier questions about this topic. Hence I will answer myself! Honestly I really do not care much whichever way the government handles this. I was happy fishing years back when you could chase them, and I am still happy fishing now that you can't. Personally, I would never attempt trying catching a White Pointer, even from a 40+ foot boat. I would enjoy hooking one and play it on the line for an hour or so, but I would probably cut the line at some point. I have seen the damage a small 2m shark can do on a boat let
  9. I have caught one around 10kg one night at Tapley, just before dawn. I will try and post the video tomorrow. It was a fluke catch amongst some monster snappers. It was one of my first attempt at the big reds in 1993. Great Fish though! Caught heaps since but never seen or heard of one over 10kg. Keep checking the video section ......Opti
  10. Hi guys, I will throw my very short point of view on this subject in a way of 2 questions:1) Do you think that catching a few White pointers in the Gulf waters means we can safely swim? or boat in a small dingy without any further risks from GWs?2) Allowing people to fish for GW in the 2 Golfs would mean lots of people "berleying big time" with Tunas! Wouldn't this actually risk to bring even more GWs in the Gulf Waters? and in particular get the ones already here really in a frenzy?Looking forward to some answers,Opti P.S. My only 2 encounters with GWs on my boat developed both in a very simi
  11. Had a huge run one night, a long time ago, at Tapleys on a full freshly caught Cuttlefish head on 50lb mono, on a Shimano 6500 Bait Runner! By the way a great reel with a super smooth drag! After a non stop several minutes run, I kept increasing the drag slowly as I could start to see the end of the spool! Eventually stopping the run. Unfortunately I was not quick enough in thinking of releasing the drag back while starting to retrieve some line(still very inexperienced back then) and as the "beast" went for the second run it broke me! To make things worst, I got upset and forgot to readjust t
  12. Mickyj, if it is the same site I am glad to be out from! , there is a spot on my boat for you on my next trip! I will help you catch as much as you like to prove them wrong!I like Strike & Hook,Opti
