Adrian, I have confidence that 13,000 will pass and 14,000 will be achieved.

    You ARE a 'trout whisperer'....

apart from the fishing, your photos are superlative..
Now a 'big islang Q'.... do you have E-Carp polluting your rivers?

I'd eat the small brobzies,  Dust in fish seasoning and dry bake in a webber kettle.  If to dry a flesh to cook nicely, spraylightly with canola oil...
I'm salivating... just typing about it...

Yes, I haven't been on there for quite some time, too many argumentative comments on there and have been for quite some time. I have Russell Harris's  email address I send him a message, I caught up with him here in Tassie a couple of years ago. He's one of the nicer members on that site.. Hopefully will be catching up with Soobz when he visits Tassie soon..
    cheers

RIP Gary.    Hopefully his heirs/successors will be as considerate.

As for 'cold' in Tassie...  the creeks in the Adelaide hills are turning in to glaciers...
Hence the new name for my suburb... 'Bridge-clacier 5155 "...

A good call about fresh water - I remember making a mistake while camping at the beach. I got my hair wet and rubbed a block of soap all through my hair, to wash out a weeks worth of slimy fish hands running through it.

That day I learnt that alot of soaps dont lather or dissolve in salt water😉

dmck got a reaction from Plectropomus in DIY Drag washers for old reels ??
Go to a place that does outside awnings and get samples of the cloths they offer..Some look identical to carbonex.
I got a sample of some 10 types and all could be used for drag washers.
Dont get too hung up on thickness---  look at the construction of your reels - I doubt if thickness actually matters.
    Grease does!

Rusting problem with mine was I kept them in an ice-cream tub (no lid) and they got salt water (spray etc) in the tub... and I didnt empty..
Now the "new ones" are in sealed food containers and cant get wet.

I use womens hair clips to push through the hole.  Have to trim to length first (cut of knobs from ends) then fit and tap sinker with hammer.  Cheap from supermarkets.
THey do rust so keep them dry - when not in use.

Do you use a tool?  such as flyfishermen use to tie flies?

I'm RH... but I cast with my LH and wind with my RH.  I've noticed some people hold the rod on their RHS and still wind RH.  My LH holds the rod on my left hip.
I think I'm normal so you must be ....................... ????

Normal is another word for average  @dmck I'm supernormal* 🤣
*(it's a real word, I won that argument with my wife, and winning an argument with your wife proves you're supernormal)

@Des yeah that's a concern I have too, thumbs are more a problem, I look for reels with big round/EVA grips now.

Follow up on Gliss. I've still got it on 1 reel. Abrasion resistance got really bad over time to the point of constant breakages.

It looks like most people have found the same and it is going really cheap.

I've stupidly jumped in after a few things, stupidly for me is pretty much when you can't see the bottom due to dirty or deep water,  or jumping in the Torrens lake, that's plain nasty 🤣.
The only one that compares to you though Mah for plain fear factor and temporary insanity was one night at the end of Wallaroo Jetty something big took my favourite light combo, poor thing, drag was set right and screaming, I nearly got there too but the tiny 1500 spool just couldn't keep up.
Instinctively went straight after it, probably wasn't halfway down when I realised what an idiot I was, we'd been catching bronzies and hammerheads, the rod had disappeared already and I had a fresh deck of PJ supers in my pocket.
Pretty sure I briefly became Aquaman, somehow, no idea how, don't even remember doing it, I clambered up a pylon and onto one of cross supports from there I was able to climb back up.
Easily the most terrified I've been in my life, genuinely can't remember hitting the water or getting out, just fear and adrenaline.
