  1. Good interesting video and looks like you had a great day and probably learnt some new stuff along the way. Hope the little reefs do their job and look forward to any updates and progress as time goes by.
  2. Nice shots Panga - such a calm relaxing time to be there. It honestly must be hard life for you all when you have that at the front door

  4. Nothing like getting socks for Christmas - lucky man
  5. Well I reckon that's a pretty good plan for the moment. depending if you are North or South, but Gar down South are a little slow - but they are there. The berley should do the trick and using a bottom rig would be worth a go. And if not, try a float and change leader depths after say 1/2 hour. YF are are being caught more northern beaches but not so much south. We all need a good week of hot weather to bring things along
  6. Looks very nice Panga, a little bit of everything & hope you handled the chopsticks well and didn't have a fork hidden out of shot
  7. Will do and I'll take my pump as previous discussed. Now you are just teasing me Yeah, I reckon there would be. Only problem I see is snagging the squid jag. Casting and the normal retrieve would mainly be fatal I reckon - depending on water depth to a degree. Jag under a float could have same result but obviously adjust line under float would help. Yes, would agree to that but depending on tide height as to where you get to on the rocks. Looking a google maps, there seems to be some solid rocks just North of the small bit of beach. Has
  8. Just wondering if anyone has fished off the rocks at Ochre Point - which is between Maslins Beach (North) and Moana South. I'm thinking with the broken ground it would be ok for Squid, Gar and maybe in the sandy area some Whiting. Would also have to pick the right times so you don't get smashed off the rocks with waves/swell. Any experiences?
  9. Woohoo A big congratulations to Wilda, a well deserving winner. Thanks for enjoying my reports too. A BIG THANKYOU to Bjorn and others for putting this competition together for all Strike Hook members and also for Bjorn throwing in some S&H beanies and neck warmers (they will come in handy). Also a another BIG THANKYOU to SPOTTERS for putting up such a great prize pack - the prize will certainly look cool on Wilda I'm sure The poppers will certainly come in handy and the salmon lures have come at a great time too - keep snagging them lately on all the extra exposed
  10. When I was looking at a pump I did the sums of making a 'good' one using pvc. Costed up at Bunnings and was slightly cheaper than a stainless steel one, but still didn't know whether it would perform well enough. I watched a few youtubes on making them, some where quite fancy, but in the end I purchased a S/steel - for the extra, I think was about $20 - 30 more, I knew it will perform + it would have save me all the time in making one. Also,, the suction plug was hard to find as Bunnings didn't have, but were on ebay. One thing though, after using a half dozen times, and washing/clea
  11. Nice haul Dan. Love watching the Gar play around the floats with me being ready to strike. They give a nice 'little' fight too. Where you in a boat or Lb around the island?
  12. certainly looks like it Just want to say Panga is a Champion for coming to my rescue we all knew he was a Champion anyway though Thanks again mate.
  13. Good info there SurfcaztR. Obviously very annoying that replacement batteries were too big - just - will watch for that if I go that way on the 4000. Cheers.
  14. Me too Underpants but hoping some fellow S&H's may have some practical experience
  15. I’m in the market for an action camera and wondering if you guys have any recommendations on cameras you currently use or have used in the past. But of course, I don’t want to spend more than $120. I know and understand that for something under $120 it is not going to be the best, but for a starting point hopefully someone can recommend something that gives reasonable quality etc for the price. I have pm’d a regular on here and has suggested that BigW and Kmart have some ‘ok’ units (thanks Alex). But now really would like to hear from anyone with personal experiences
  16. He'd need to bring lots of it, but then, maybe just enough for us important people Might be an early start for you, but all worth it
  17. That would do it BB and Tinker will be swearing all languages of the entire world after that
  18. mmmm, sounds like I'll have to try this - am still also waiting for Southies ketchup recipe
  19. What a great cause and experience with working with some fellow Strike & Hookers. Like Bjorn says, if you can volunteer some hours of your time on Sunday 13 November, it will be greatly appreciated. It wont be hard work, after all it is just cooking some snags and putting it in a piece of bread, having some laughs and enjoying a great day. And remember, you will be working alongside the “Distinguished Bjorn” the “Notorious Southie” and the “ Legendary Doobie”. You could be the next “Acclaimed …………….” So, pm Bjorn that you can give some hours of yo
  20. It would be good if the video had a real close up in real slow motion of it releasing the line. If it works well then I suppose you can get a better distance on the cast as you have full control and grip on the rod. But even so, I'm not going to be sourcing it out to purchase.
  21. I haven't caught or eaten crab for 20+ years, but some of that info does make my mouth water.
  22. A great number of repeat sponsors and fantastic with all the new sponsors as well - hoping the $20K will be reached.
  23. First off, I went and checked my freezer, but then realized what you were after The only one I found was on ebay, only because the heading had Bullchop as one word. Genuine or not I don't know but hope that helps a little. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Maria-Bullchop-Lure/112169332598?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107090050%26meid%3D53e31ef506254159b5f21b968267c2c8%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D112135925859
