  1. the one we made is the same as this....http://www.surfrocketfishing.com/surfrocket2.swf
  2. mate....awesome piece of gear....i wouldnt want to get in the way of it...its would go right through you without even slowing down...prob a good thins we smashed it....
  3. its all over and done with now....we put the bazzooka under a 300 tonne press at work and killed it.....basicly it was a 4 ft tube, with an airtank on the bottom, a special lead sinker was machined up on a lathe that went into the barrel.(looked exactly like a slug gun slug....cept an inch in diametre)....when pressure was good you cracked the valve, sinker hit warp speed, taking the line and hooks out further than ANYONE could cast....trouble was the velocity of the sinker was too great for the bait....i even had to use 50lb line on the sinker trace to keep it attached....when the sinker came ou
  4. ive recently being trying out a cannon to launch my bait with.....awesome piece of gear to see in action.....but i cant keep a bait on....basicly its a cylinder with a barrel on it...pump up to 60psi and crack the valve....ive seen the line peel off at a great rate of knots, and can launch a rig 200mtres from shore...( not kidding)trouble is though, the bait goes from zero to mach speed in a fraction of a secong, and i cant keep a bait in the hooks.... even a whole frozen tommie gets ripped apart when it fires....if i use just the sinker its been flung over 400 mtres.....alas all good things mus
  5. abu 7000 is my weopan, matched to an ugly stick .....not that i get a lot of snapper with it,in the 20 plus years ive been fishing in the boat ive landed a total of 1 fish....13.2kg snapper that was the most boring fish in the world to hook...didnt do a damn thing.from hookup to gaff in UNDER 3 minutes....so now i only fish snapper from the rocks.....if you rock fishing for them...nothing will beat an alvey 650C imho....strapped onto a 15 yrs old snyderglas 8 wrap.... not much this combo wont stop, unless its bigger than me ( which has happened a few times.
  6. oh hell yeah.....been out in some big seas(whyalla snaooer contest a few years ago if any can remember) you get very small amouts on water this way...and with a bit of practice and 2 on board, skipper can start and drive next to anchor, crew gives a tug,and skipper can just keep putting forward until the pick is on board.
  7. as spog said....the anchor is tied off at the front....when you pull the anchor, you pull the rope into the side of the boat,...picture the anchor rope going from the front.....with ANOTHER short rope that goes from the stern,to the bow anchor rope.....has a rubber ring around it...when you pull it it drags in the anhor rope until you can reach it....then just pull in from side and the anchor comes into the boat,...hang on...i will race out and get a pic or 2.....OK....BIT HARD WITH THE COVER ON TO SEE,BUT I THINK YOU WILL GET THE IDEA....FIRST PIC IS THE ANCHOR TIED OFF AT THE FRONT,BUT IT RUN
  8. heres an idea my dad used (rip dad)with the 5.02 streaker dad had, and such a keen and by FAR the best fisherman ive ever seen, dad spent a lot of time on the water.....forget climbing through the cuddy cab and out of a little tiny hole to pull up the anchor.....screw that.... dad tied a line from the back of the boat,to a ring that went around the anchor rope..... when it was time to move, start motor, put in gear, and motor next to the anchor rope....pull the rear rope, and the anchor rope followed...the anchor was then pulled in from the side , and placed in the rear....no more struggling to pul
  9. i fish the rocks a lot,and have recently been doing all nighters on the stones.....so ive been building a fire to keep the chill off...i take wood with me,but its hard wood so it lasts a while....trouble is getting it going...have used some pine off cuts from home, but they burn too fast....bit of heat then its gone...so some fire lighters, and a quick squirt of reel oil on the wood gets the hard wood burning faster.... quick spary of areogard BEFORE i put a log on works well also....
  10. well that will teach me to read the posts AFTER i right this tip down...sorry BENNYBOY....just read your post on the same subject...my bad.works well though.... been doint it on and off for 9 yrs now.....
  11. cutting compound works well...the same stuff you use when tapping a thread.....goes on thick, and as drill heats it melts....dont be shy when using it.....saves many a good drill bit.
  12. by stubbourn fish im guessing puffers....was on the boat once and seen a bloke nearby pulling them in by the dozens...( as we were) we used the donger,he was using a tennis racket.....we couldnt stop laughing....he pull one in....it pumps up and WACK.....puffer goes sailing....surprised me just how far they went.....
  13. found a neat trick to float a bait out a LONG way then release it to fish the bottom.i use a balloon with a lifesaver attatched...(the candy sort..not the saviers)i tie the balloon to a lifesaver, then the lifesaver to the swivel...i use a lead, cast it out and it drifts with the tide and wind....the sweetie desolves and when through it releases and drops the bait.....i can get around the 300-400 mtres sometimes if wind and tide running well.i dont know if its an old trick or not...ive seen people using balloons before but they were floating a bait and it stays floating...first time i tried it,
  14. i think its a joke sight.....if you look at related sites he has a heap of short vids out.....some off them look painfull....he getas a lure stuck in his nose.....
  15. ive been using tuna oil for a while off the rocks now, gives a real nice slick, and also pour a bit on the bait before casting.the other day i went for a fish....put some on my bait, but would line a tad too much for casting...( i like about 4ft hanging before casting the alvey...) so i let some out, bait went into a puddle and all the oil washed off.....(instantly)this has got me wondering if tuna oil actually does anything at all?great for surface fish, and ive been told that sometimes snapper will feed on the top,but ive never seen it....am i wasting time an money by adding to bait for it to ju

  19. im guessing BLUE..... isnt their blood blue?
  20. oh yeah....thanks mate.... after 30 cigs a day i dont think i could run the length of jetty let alone pulling a bag....
  21. ive also seen pillies that thick.....cruising in my boat many years ago when seagulls told a story of action on the surface....me and bro in law were going through the pack and as we left the landing net at home all we had was a bucket....we just scooped them up as we went through them...couple went on the hook and salmon were caught.
  22. bit hard from the rocks and jetty...unless i can run real fast... :icon_lol:
  23. thank never thought of that.....
  24. the dreaded cuttlefish ink..... must be 100 times worse than squid ink im sure...i can get squid ink off fairly easy, but cullty is like scraping wallpaper off.....so now when i catch them i freeze them first, and clean the next day or so...no more ink,..well its still there but its now a solid block of black ice..... bit cold on the hands and fingers cleaning them, but a damn sight easier to wash your hands afterwards.works well on squid as well....no slime to contend with....

    CAT FOOD

ive been using tinned cat food as a berley from the rocks and the boat..... el cheapo brand at 76 cents from woolies works ok in the boat....punch a few holes in it and either drop over the side or chuck the whole tin in the pot...noticed when given a shake the tommies and gar come from nowhere to nail it....and i just happen to have some gents out the back and they get nailed as well...the rocks im not so sure about....because all i do is punch holes top and bottom and throw the whole tin (which is steel and will rust away iin no time) i dont know where its going or to what is going too....iv
