  1. Good luck and tight lines to you both, lure addict and Kelvin... Hope to see some positive posts with lots of pics after your respective trips! Cheers af
  2. For those of you who may not have seen this before: https://fishflicks.tv Subscriptions start at $2.00 per week (billed monthly) or you can opt for a $79.00 annual package ($1.52 per week). Cheers af
  3. Bloody hard work just standing up in that wind, let alone holding a camera steady! Cheers af
  4. Just to add to doobie's last post - some snaps taken down there earlier tonight: Cheers af
  5. If you're not hard-core, there are always fishing videos/TV shows to watch (with a bevvie of your choice in hand!). It's not all bad... Cheers af
  6. Seems like it's going to be ordinary weather (at best) for the next few days, b2f... Mother's Day on Sunday will probably wipe out a lot of punters, too. Might hit up the Onk Footbridge or thereabouts tomorrow for a couple of hours and see what happens. Cheers af
  7. Another variation on this theme: https://www.thesenior.com.au/lifestyle/gone-but-having-a-ball-at-sea/ Cheers af
  8. Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I thought this might trigger a few memories, wilda... http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/monster-bluefish-in-paradise Love LHI Cheers af
  9. There are probably a lot of more experienced Hookers on this site who can offer you good advice, but here's a starting point at least: http://www.shimanofish.com.au/products/fishing-rods/travel.html Good luck in your search... Cheers af
  10. ljackway What length are you looking at? Spin or bait cast? Does it have to be 4 piece or can you get by with 3? Cheers af
  11. Cal Did you you have any particular species in mind when you originally posed this question? Cheers af
  12. Interesting, Kelvin.. The Mensforth's in their "Baits, Rigs & Lures for South Australian Fishing" book suggest the opposite (for Mulloway, at least), but offer no particular reason for doing so. Your rationale sounds plausible, though. Obviously we need a controlled experiment to get a definitive answer! Cheers af
  13. Nice little treasure trove there, Goldy... Here's hoping it translates into some excellent catches! Cheers af
  14. Just dragged out my Bellbrook and checked it and it certainly has different hardware, as you have noted, TBR. ChuckT's example certainly seems closer to the mark. Cheers af
  15. Just grabbed this off the net: http://bimberi.australialisted.com/2611/hunting-fishing/vintage-bellbrook-the-super-lure-william-southam_18419928.html It seems the Bellbrooks were made in Artamon NSW. TBR - is your lure in question definitely made in Japan? I saw in Big W the other day a Bellbrook rip-off produced by Outback. Cheers af
  16. Agree with Cal - looks suspiciously like a Bellbrook to me too... Dunno whether they were made in Japan, though. Back in the day (1960's to 70's), they were the "go-to" lure for Barra up in North Queensland. I still have a black with white stripes model in a tackle box somewhere. Cheers af
  17. It's unfortunate that a new product should be giving you so much grief already, TheBerg... However, if you wish to persist with it, try a product called "nilodor" (available in most large supermarkets). If THIS doesn't kill the smell, then you really should consider purchasing another brand of vest... Cheers af
  18. A tackle shop within walking distance...this could be dangerous! Cheers af
  19. Not so much being uninsured, more like being under-insured (which is still a bummer and probably a salutary lesson to us all): https://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/30949882/cruiser-with-retired-navy-officer-and-teenagers-catches-fire/#page1 Cheers af
  20. Google "Review of Trout Stocking in South Australia - Wayne Fulton 2004" - you should find a couple of links to a 5.48MB PDF document. Cheers af
  21. "To crab or not to crab" - this is not another "morality" question, is it?!! Cheers af
  22. There is a review of Gloryfy "unbreakable" sunnies in today's The Weekend Australian Magazine: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/gloryfy-unbreakable-sunglasses-road-test/news-story/f6b6d88c8855da201e2cfb81db5723f8 Gloryfy website here: http://gloryfysunglasses.com.au/?v=6cc98ba2045f Cheers af
  23. My two cents worth: As a late-comer to the world of “higher-end” polarised sunglasses, I started off with some metal-framed Makos (can’t remember what model) which were OK without being remarkable. They served me reasonably well, until the left lens fell out (unnoticed) at the Paskeville Field Days one year. (I wondered why I was getting some rather strange looks from passers-by!) On the way back from Paskeville, I picked up a pair of Spotters Coyotes at Sportfishing Scene at Cavan.
