  1. Everyone's golden rule should be "If you don't want to bag it, then return it as you found it!!" This applies to not only fish!! It's not hard to work out!!

  4. Is the weekend still on? the 17th and 18th July weekend? I'm hoping to drop in for a day trip still to meet some of you guys. Looking forward to it. I have filled out the paperwork for leave with the missus already. Might bring her along yet. Good to down a six pack with ya's, and to show you how to fish! ) :silly: :woohoo:
  5. Nev, ask a bloke from our belting company to rubber lag your holders. They might do it at pretty good mates rates for ya. Will save scratches on the rods and reels.
  6. If the mice are baited before the salmon eat them, are the fish still ok to eat? For example - mouse is baited and then gets eaten by salmon. Fish gets caught 1 hour later and then gets cooked/smoked and eaten. Will we get affected?
  7. I want to hear about people watching people catching there first fish. Nothing better than watching someones adrenallin pumping. either being the kids or the missus or your mates - they are all special.I were on a boat drifting in the Pt Lowly rip when this noob's line starting peeling off. He thought he was snagged, so just starting winding his overhead (with his drag off) After some educating, he landed an 8kg snapper!! I really thought he was gonna wet himself - he's never been on a boat before-the lucky bastard!!The look on his face was better than me catching any fish any day!!!!

Pull on the anchor rope and it will put pressure on this sheer pin, once it breaks, the cross beam will swivel in any direction, releasing it from any snapper drop.
  9. That's a top idea mate. But the stainless bolt/sheer pin looks about 10mm. It would take a bit of breaking I reckon.Still like the design though.

    Sheesh - I gotta go light me a boong!Well - 10 years ago I would have.
  11. In the smaller airports without xray surveillance, then carry whatever you can fit in the bag. If they ask you if you are carrying any weapons, then say 'NO' because you aren't (even if it is a filleting knife). The major airports are a little different and is up to the personnel at the xray section. I have carried in some very suspicious items (all work related) and been let through easily. But other times been pulled up and asked for searches and explanations. I use 'glycerine' for my job and have always had it in hand luggage, even after inspections I have been let through. (glycerine is us
  12. I reckon our surf beaches (eg elliston) are one of our wonders of the world. So even if the fish aren't biting, it is a better atmosphere than a jetty session catching tommies, crabs and squid.
  13. I have found that the expensive egg beaters release the bail arm easily by turning the handle and can be used as a baitcaster, but the cheaper types I use my fingers to flick over the bail arm.If you use a lot of handle force to roll the bail arm over, then maybe the fingers will be better. The overhead are better still!!

    please read

Sheesh - I must admit, I did not read all the article (the first paragraph seemed a little extreme!) and I have not read ALL the posts - BUT - I have not tried fishing for fish by the 'Attaching silver foil to the fish first and then adding an electric charge' method. I have always thought of trying this method, but thought I must actually catch a fish to do this cruelty first!! I have added a battery pack and jumper leads and 12m roll of alfoil (black and gold of course) to my 'things to take fishing' listI tried to inject a snapper with morphine once but have you ever applied a torniquet to

I can give you a discount on these rocks AND you can keep it!!Throw a line straight out from the light house at Pt Lowly at a low tide about 4.00am and you are in for a chance of a nobber. They seem to come in close here under the cover of darkness looking for food from the rip.Don't tell Nev. LOL!!
