@southie THE BANGA Yeah I'm working all weekend, by all accounts there was a steady stream of vehicles headed our way Thursday night. saw heaps in the shop today but figure we will see more tomorrow. there are still a lot of people who can't get their head around that we are open Good Friday.

Spotted this Wattle bird having a feed on the nectar in one of our Banksia bushes yesterday so grabbed the small fishing camera and took a few pic's from around 30 feet away.. Didn't get the bigger Canon EOS camera out as I thought it would have flown off by the time I got it out and set up for a photo..

From reports from the customers at work over the last two days yorkes will be exceeding there quota of people on the peninsula 😂😂😂
Easily 80% said they were off to Yorkes for the long weekend. 
Feel sorry for @Yorky and the team at compleat angler over the easter weekend. Have experienced it myself first hand and it is nuts!

I have always been an avid watcher of Big Angry Fish I really like the show, it has given a few ideas which I intend to try this year and see if the same techniques they use will work here in SA.
I have taken the first step in one of those ideas and now have in my possession my versions of Nathan's famous skutes. I did not tie them but I have been bitten by the bug and already have some ideas on my own versions for different species and going to teach myself how to tie them it cant be that hard .
I was fortunate to ask someone I have known for a while and here are what I picked up today
Ive got to say that I am really happy with what he produced I am now dying to get out try........if this #@%^ing wind ever stops long enough to allow me to go where I want to go. I will be making a sacrifice tomorrow on the sabbath to the weather gods
 
Here's the 10 I got today

Have just received my new camera for my fishing trips, I have upgraded from the Canon SX150IS camera which was still a great camera, I  upgraded to a Canon SX620HS which is much smaller but has a bit more in reserve,, 20.2 megapixels & 25 times optical zoom and a host of different settings which I'm yet  to tr, at the moment I'm using Auto mode.  Just took a few in the river yesterday and a few at sunrise , bumble bee  on Banksia flower and sunset tonight.

They do look the goods, they are super light with decent drags on them. When they were released at the Afta trade show they were apparently going to be around the $400 mark. 
The reel sizing is certainly smaller than Daiwas previous reels. For example an 3-6kg rod would usually take a 2500-3000 reel, however with the Sol rod it balances well with the 4000 sol purely because of the lightness of the reel.
But all in all they are certainly a tough reel on face value. Only down side i see with them is that They aren't compatible with the custom preject spools or RCS spools as they aren't Real four reels.
Ill probably end up getting a 2500 myself.

Unfortunately I now have 2 jobs and I will be working right through till the New Year. Only day off will be Christmas day it looks like at the moment. 

Only upside is the $$$$ so once everyone goes back to work/school I'll have some cash to get away for a bit! 
 
Hopefully i'll have some time after work to go chase some beach species locally, if all else fails ill go have a hit down the vines

"bratko" is onto it! that being said my fav. 3rd is the yo zuri red head white body, 2nd yo zuri green body with a yellow belly stripe, then no. 1 Yamashita pilchard colour.  I always like to pay a little for the jags as i think they swim a bit better, i always reckon people don't value their time much, if you are going to spend the time to go fishing buy yourself a half decent jag.... 

Yesterday while heading up to Liena (Mersey River) for a spin session I came across a fresh water Lobster in the middle of the road. It had climbed up a steep bank so it could reach the on the other side of the road. This was because the poor thing couldn't reach a concrete pipe that ran under the road that the creek water flowed through.. It is now in the creek that it was trying to reach.. I was a little worried it may have been run over by a quarry truck that wasn't all that far behind me when I spotted it, lucky for it the truck missed it.. Then today as I was heading back to the car I spotted a Platypus next to the river bank so took a photo of that too.. here's a couple of pic's of some of Tasmania's wild life..

Fresh water lobster, a protected species that comes with a $10,000 fine for each one that is found in a persons possession..

And here we have the little Tasmanian Platypus that is quite common in most rivers around the state.. always nice to see them in the rivers..
