OK, a few pics here too since this is a new design. The reel seat is like the Fuji seat on the Zing Xteme Gen II,

except Daiwa doesn't have the scallops, it's 'ergonomic' and at first I thought it silly, but damned if it don't work well. Even the fact that there's no EVA  is a good thing as you are more directly connected to the line, then again I wear sun gloves anyway

note the hook keeper is behind the reel so that the line cant catch on it unintentionally...anyway your hand grips the curves in a very natural way, hard to show but...

Oh, look who's been cleaning squid

I need to take it bream fishing, and then out on the flats.

I've been meaning to put this on the site for some time, forgot all about it..
Not for the want of trying I finally caught and released a decent size wild brown trout for a change. Even better was the fact it was my personal best of the season so far. Still hoping to break the one kilo mark & better before the season ends on the last Sunday closest to the end of April 2021. The larger three rivers (Meander, Mersey & Leven) I fish do hold a few trout well over the kilo size, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Just quietly, the people flocking to stores now is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing.
All these people flooding the stores when it is clear that supermarkets will still be open during lockdown; why?
The people then crowd and cause chaos, potentially spreading it even more.
Just wear a face covering and go during the lockdown people, it's all good. Be efficient and plan things well and it'll be fine.

I'd understand shops that will be locked down such as Bottle shops even more so, but man, this is a great way to spread a virus, by cramming into tight spaces on mass.

I finally got around to giving one of two of Brayden's hard body lures ( 41mm 4g Brown trout pattern) a go today in the Mersey River in dull overcast conditions and very clear water..
the lure worked a treat picking up a brown & a rainbow trout in quick time.. the fishing was tough today with a low moving in, I did hook and lose two trout on it as well.
They're a great action light weight lure, very impressed with it.. here's a couple of pic;'s..
    cheers
    Adrian...

The brown was the first that fell to the lure..

Then not long after a rainbow was landed..

Yeah I've noticed different flouro's, have different levels of stickyness when tightening uni knots - Vanish Mainline flouro is noticeable easier to tighten, than the FlouroKote I'm trialing (Kast King Brand)

I've found I have to be super careful when tightening - Slobber, plus keep the knot under my tongue, in a pool of spit as I tighten - sometimes than doesnt even work, and I have the grab the knot between thumb and fore finger and ease it down the line. Because if I just try to yank it down - I get friction damage which severely weakens the line

I have found that when tying Fluoro the knot needs to be well & truley lubricated (spit) before pulling it up tight to increase the knot strength.
If you tie a knot without/with little lube & pull it tight watch what happens to the fluoro at the base of the knot just as it gets tight & you can watch the damage happen.
Since I've started really slobbering on my fluoro knots if had next to no failures

This is just a short video clip of a few wild browns that fell to the rainbow coloured Aglia Fluo blade spinner last week.
Cold water (2.5 degrees at times) in the rivers & streams is making the fishing a little tough at the moment.. Once the weather settles and the water temps rise I'm sure the trout fishing will improve week by week..
That last fish of the day made the trip worthwhile..

Only a short one hour session in very cold 3 degree water.. The Mepps #0 Aglia rainbow micro pigment did the job..
It was nice to be back in the water chasing trout again.. This video is in 1080p HD..

    Hey all
Been quiet on the fishing/painting front with me...
Been working my arse off at work to start getting to look at purchasing my 1st house .. So with that been hindering my fishing time with all the overtime I've been doing... my car decided to shit itself again 😅😅 2months later im only getting it back on Monday! Bloody Covid!
So it's been a pretty stressful couple months...
But when it hasn't been cold out in the shed i have been painting up a few lures here and there for my own personal use...
I have been using a new clear coat that is alot quicker and harder than what i have previously been using....
Hopefully with winter almost behind us it means a few more nights in the shed to start painting up the yellowfin whiting lures for the up coming season.....
Heres a few of my personal collection i whipped up

I'm hoping once the weather settles down I'll be back in a river chasing trout, I'm not pushing myself this early in the season like I normally do..So there's no trout fishing for me yet, I had an appointment this afternoon to be assessed to see how soon I can see a orthopedic surgeon for hip replacements & lower back (L3,L4 & L5 discs) surgery.. Have been given the okay for a visit to the orthopedic surgeon for the hips which will be around twelve months time. As for the back, well that's going to be assessed another time down the track to see another surgeon.. Not in a hurry for the back surgery as they said it may result in three discs being removed & steel rods inserted plus a twelve month recovery.. I'll be trying to hold off on that operation for sure.. I'll just have to be more selective where I fish in a river this season, trouble is the easy to get to waters never hold trout.. My doctor is finally back from overseas so I'll be paying him a few visits for a dose of injections again...
There was a nice dumping of snow overnight on Black Bluff with more forecast, very clear skies up this was tonight too.. more likely a heavy frost than snow here at this stage.
Here's a photo I took this morning from the back yard, I'd sooner it had been a few photos of some trout..😀😃

Here's a few photos of the finished product.. Once again I waited until Snapfish had a 50% sale on that included extra pages.. The book is A4 size...

Well I just received a couple of special high quality hard body lures today and they certainly look great and beautifully finished..
They're a well presented brown trout lure that I'm sure will suck quite a few trout in next season.. I'm really looking forward to giving them a good workout in the rivers & streams here in Tassie..
    cheers
