  2. heading to west coast at xmas and cant take too many cockles. Ive heard of these Red devil Worms for the whiting but cant seem to find anywhere that sells them? Anyone heard of them and do you know where to get them? cheers
  3. Venus any day. you can still catch good whiting at night off the jetty.in fact some years I have caught more 38cm+ whiting off the jetty than I have off the boat during the day. Awesome spot.
  4. I remember camping at Pt Turton in 1980. Catching gar and tommies off the rocks and spotted a squiddly chasing my tommy in. All we had was the wire jags so on went a tommy and we caught about 10 or so in what seemed like 10 minutes. cut them up into rings and cooked them in a saucepan over the coals that evening. We had that much that even my blue healer couldnt eat any more!!Had the rest cold the next morning. Awesome days.

Pitch black night and not much happenin so we were sitting back havin a couple around the fire next to the dunes and went to check the rod. Uh oh. no rod. Just a trail leading in to the water. Rod .... she gone.Never to be seen again. AND I was sure a had the drag set ???

  9. Venus Bay about 1978 as a 14 year old when the old man and I would head down to the jetty every night about 10pm and catch ripper tommies about 10/11 inches at the change of the tide. Anyway, the last night we were there, the old man decided he wouldn't come cos basically he'd had enough catchin tommies so I went on my own. Caught nothin for a while and thought it was a bit strange and then got one and got busted off.WTF? That was no tommy. Ended up pulling in 25 salmon average 5 pounds with not a soul around. The old man came down about 2am to see the jetty covered in blood and salmon and had

By the time I got the car and hitched the boat back up it was nearly full and the hiace nearly did a piston getting the thing out !Anyway it turned out to be a ripper day. we bagged out on whiting and got heaps of gar, tommies and squid and on the way in got stuck into some salmon trout by
