  1. i have lost count of how many times iv seen/heard of 50w's almost spooled 50w is pretty much the average size for big sharks if your targetting fish 7ft+ you will have a good chance, anyone who thinks that you can handle a big shark landbased with a spinfisher is tripping cause it wont happen you'll be spooled befor you know it 6ft would be about as big as you'll get unless you hook a slug of a shark that wonts to run along the beach instead of for deeper water (99.9% of them will).. but i wouldnt know anything ill just stick with my overkill sabre 655H makaira 50w and 9/0 laughing at the mis
  2. i'd say he wants some story's? haha, its good running into the older fellas on the jettys that used to balloon back in their younger years some of the storys you hear are pretty amusing lol.ss
  3. if i did decide to do this it would be in a very large tank and yes i would be changing the water often with fresh salt water, and for this size thing i think it would be the same as many other animals they will only grow to their surroundings?? if it did get too big off to the ocean once again, i own a samoyed and a missus........ i know how to maintane things lol a fish tank is NOTHING hahah
  4. gday fellas, thinking about setting up a fairly large salt water tank to keep a small bronzie or 7gill shark in.how hard would this be to do as i have never had a salt water fish tank, and as for feed i was gunna catch mullet, tommies etc. to keep in the tank aswell, feedback and ideas would be great.cheers ss
  5. oh and for the balloon coming off, i just pull the ring of the balloon through an eye on my swivel or tie it off with light line, either way though evan if u out it strait to your main line it will pop under the pressure of a good run
  6. doesnt realy matter how far a balloons out for me, just keep feeding it out til your happy with where its sitting, my mates have had balloons out 200m and mine only 100m and i got the shark of the night, then again iv had a balloon out 400m and only 50m away from shore and got big sharks, as long as you have a bait out you have a chance, have noticed when the small sharks come in early they hang fair close to the jetty chasing bait fish and crab nets etc.
  7. got a good reel there mate, the senators will never stuff up on you if u give them abit of care, (altho my 9/0's antireverse carked it 10mins into a fight with a 10+ft that waas fun) combo's abit over board for the little ones (3-5ft) i chase these early season with 6-8lb gear lol im not too sure how you'd go finding them in the colder months as i have never done it, but if you wait for the warmers months october you'll see yourself smashing 3-5footers hard off metro jetty's and inshore marks, late october through to december you will have the chance of a big fella upto 10ft+ if your lucky, y

  12. not a bad combo mate, if u hook into that big one you have been chasing you might find yourself pulling anchor and chasing :Pswitch bread with semolina and the berley sounds good,"bread will do though",where u going out? section banks?cheers scott
  13. try no sinker at all mate, i get more takes un weighted then i do evan using tiny split shots
  14. just looked up the tld25's line capacity and the site says it will hold 600y of 15kgekul had 600m of 15kg on his sld30 and pulled it all off put 300m of 50lb braid on as backing then got all of the mono back on so he had 900m on there. but then had to take about 50-100m off to fit the 400lb wind on leader onto the reel. i agree the streach of mono is what you want. but if u are worried about line capacity if you are chasing a fish of a life time using a braid backing will help you if you hook that 8+, once again each to their own. cheers ss
