  1. When the reels cost an arm and a leg then yes it is bloody important
  2. By placing a fish (usually snook or bonito) on the end of your line in any water depth is not attracting sharks in from the deep, they are already in the area.... Something the media needs to work out as well.
  3. I better get the heavy gear out next time i go fishing at the lake Have heard stories of people throwing small bronzies, black rays and eaglies in there as well.
  4. Don't get Optus, they are useless :c
  5. Get around the good looking bloke, i mean 7 gill on Page 70
  6. Fished Stenhouse hard all day on Friday (including berley) for absolutely nothing, didn't even see a school of whitebait swimming around the jetty!Saturday we headed over to see if Pt Giles was open but there was a ship docked and being loaded so we headed down to Kleins to find the Accolade was docked, however within 20mins she was on her way so we fished there for a good 5 hours with berley and again no result. 5 other people were fishing on the jetty as well and nobody had a touch. Was speaking to a bloke in the carpark as we left who said he had been fishing at Pt Turton jetty all day for
  7. Awesome! Send it out as far as you want then haha
  8. Depends on how much line you have on your reel, in my case i only have 500m of line on my 6/0 so i put it out anywhere from 70m - 250m. As there was lots of big sharks metro here last season i only put my balloon out 100m or so as i came very close to being spooled once from a bronzie. With the visibility factor of the balloons during the day just use dark coloured balloons and you will be able to see them easily (depending on eyesight) and at night you might just be able to see your balloons depending on the jetty and how much light is coming from the land or you could put a small light ins
  9. This place would be familiar to anyone who fishes down the Port
  10. Here's afew more from around the place
  11. Ahh spewing I hopped out of the truck in Alice Springs and so did my camera, hit the deck and the batteries, memory card and lens cap all came flying off
  12. Cheers Guys! Southie, the Stenhouse photo was taken with my DSLR but the Torrens Outley was taken with my everyday digital camera...until it hit the ground...and didn't bounce :silly:
  13. This is my biggest 7 Gill, was around 6ft. Off a beach down Yorkes
  14. Just get a carton of red tin down the hatch and everyday will feel like the end of the world :woohoo:
  15. I use a Penn 6/0 with 500m of 50lb mono and a 400lb mono leader. Ive caught 2 sharks on it, 1st one was 9.6ft and the other one was a 7ft. The 9.6ft came close to spooling me, probably had another 80m of line left. Your 6/0 will be fine for the bronzies, just make sure you keep an eye on that spool if you hook a big one and if need be tighten the drag right up.
