Heard good things about the tackle guard product over the years. An old mate used to use it. Like the other boys inox has been my go to on my reels and the lanox spray which is a lanolin and inox blend is gold on the reel seats on your rods as it doesn't wash off also.I Also use light machine oil on moving parts of my reels too. Pays to look after ya gear as good gear isn't cheap these days.

My mate has the new shimano t curve ian miller tk3g series. Very nice rods worth checking out. My mate is running the 10kg version but I think they have a couple lighter ones.

Not sure Dylbaa, Probably be ok but always better putting the reel on in the shop. It is primary a lure rod with split grip and not a full length lower grip either so if it sits in a rodholder for any length of time there probably would be better choice as an allrounder I reckon.

Both these balance up with daiwa 3000 reels so should be fine with your 4000 stella i think.

Loomis do some nice 10lb to 20lb rods. I have one around the 6 and a half foot and they do the same rod in the 7 foot also. I bought a 7ft black hole Amped 7ft snapper model recently which is great and also very cheap also rated to 20lb. Great for plastics and also parabolic for straight up and down in the boat.

Hi guys. Ended up ordering XL Hookem net. Has a metre drop as is but may go sum custom long drop fish friendly mesh later for monsters.

Hi guys, about to buy a new xlarge landing net.just wondering what everyone is using these days. I used to run an xlarge environet in my last boat which was great. Know there are some berkley rubber ones and others on the market and wondered what they are like also. For use in my tinny but chasing the larger sizes. Was gonna go and get another XL environet but thought I would see if anything newer has come onto the market. Cheers

Got the green light on some decent seats for the tinny today. Never hesitate when you get the green light. Hahaha!!! Some nice finishing touches for the tinny.

U can get lucky. I took the tip off a saltiga 68s years ago and thought the rod was ruined but it turned out to be a better rod than b4 once an end guide was put on. These were a fairly soft rod standard and it went from a 30lb rod to a 40lb rod. Just got lucky as suited to my purpose. Goodluck.

Hi bud. Snook can't resist a slowly retrieved unweighted blue bait or frogmouth pilchard. Fish with a fluorocarbon leader around 20lb. Thin but thick enough to cop a few nicks from the fish etc. Can also fish them under a small float too like previously mentioned. Small fish strips present well under a float too. Lures work well too like plastics or hard bodies,metals. Something to think about also is if u are fishing light u may need a decent crab net handy to use to land the fish. Seems over kill to some but school mulloway and rat kings take these baits also and have seen too many good f

If you have no problems then it's all good. I know of a few issues that mate's have had but love my daiwa gear all the same. Possibly a few guys just unlucky. I still got a couple mag seal certates,last years models that I haven't used but hopefully will give them a good bash this season as I have some more time now. My mate also got stung buying an interstate magseal catalina on gumtree which was supposedly unused. But had the hassle of sending it away for magseal repair to daiwa. He is still waiting for it last time we spoke. I picked up the current model saltiga and it felt really nice bu

I recently have gone back to the older models. Fairly bullet proof if maintained properly. Was lucky enough to score a new saltiga 4500z and a new catalina 4500z. Love the old school models for their tuffness. Good ones are getting rarer. Also in the process of fixing an old 4500h that had been neglected and abused by a previous owner. Hahaha. The current saltiga is supposedly a better design in terms of the magseal arrangement but time will tell. You are spot on the seviceable aspect of the older models compared to the newer reels. Pretty hopeless if you can't even get the oil here in Aust
