  1. shimano symetere or shimano saros in the 4000 size would be awesome. i just got back from living in the NT for 6 months and the rod i took up there was a shimano jewel barra 2 piece 6-10kg with a saros 4000 and 30lb power pro braid, went well just a pity the fish werent bigger that i was catching haha
  2. Sorry for the confusion, it was my boss, one of his mates, myself and the charter operator. So three of us fishing. My boss booked the whole boat as he usually does and none of the other boys from work wanted to come... it would've been mayhem if there were five or six people fishing though, it got hectic enough with the three of us when we all hooked up.
  3. My boss and I went out and got into the tuna that are hanging around behind KI last week. This was the best fish we got for the day and I was lucky enough to catch it. Didn't measure it, but it went 22.5kgs with the other fish ranging from 14kgs to 18.5kgs. We caught 9 for the day but only kept 4. The boat limit is 6 but we thought keeping two each was more than enough.
  4. hey guys me and a mate just got a boat and although i have fished around my home area heaps, its all being land based. i am not after anyones secrets here but was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to getting onto some snapper? i am aware there are a few well known spots quite close off of wirrina? any help would be appreciated! also any tips for catching big bronzies from the boat? i have a tld 25 and 24kg backbone elite rod so i should be able to handle most reasonably sized bronzies or hammers. should we just find some deeper water and burley up hard with a couple

    New outfit

i haven't had the pleasure of using a saltiga yet... but from all reports they seem to be the best spinning reel for gamefishing along with the stella!i thought about an outfit similiar to that for my new sharking rig but didn't want to fish braid for sharks... but it may just make it a bit more exciting during the fight with less room for error! it would certainly be different! ah well good luck and happy fishing. marty
  6. i like to live on the edge, in regards to fishing a bit lighter haha.i was thinking just hitting a spot where we have reg caught small bronzies while fishing for snapper. if i burley up should be in with a good chance and can try and crack some whiting while we wait!
  7. i kinda just got back into sharking, me and a mate used to go all the time around normanville. the best we managed was an 8'7" bronzie off of carrickalinga beach. we have caught heaps of smaller ones like 3-5ft. i am pretty happy with my setup now tld 25 600m of 15kg and a backbone elite 15-24kg rod. going out in the boat tomoro morning early. what do you reckon the best burley combo would be? i am a baker so i have unlimited supply of bread and was thinking just dicing up some squid tommies and a block of pillies in a bucket with some water then adding the bread and tuna oil?!
  8. i don't know any of the henley area by boat, but if they are catching them off the jetty there go have a sound around out off there and look for a decent drop off and burley up would be a good bet i think!
  9. thanks for the advice guys! i went down to anglers choice today and picked up a shimano tld 25, spooled it with 600m of 15kg and have a 10m 150kg wind on leader which is connected with a bimini twist and its on a 15-24kg shimano backbone! the fella's down there were really helpful, now all i have to do is put some hours in and get some sharks with a bit of luck! thanks marty jones
  10. i have caught a lot of smaller sharks mainly bronzies and schoolies just using my surf rod and abu 7000 with 50 pound braid, but i wanna put some effort into getting a bigger one 6ft+. mainly fishing from jetties or beaches! also what pound wind on leader should i use? thanks
  11. hey i am going to get a new shark reel and have owned a tld 25 before which was a good reel but sold it... i dunno why! i was thinking i might get the same again for fishing 15kg line or is it worth the extra $120 to get the 2 speed tld 30? thanks and some advice on rod length would be good to. i have my traces pretty sorted but any input is appreciated. thanks
