  1. Hooked on fish for sure, wish I could find old episodes of it. As far as I know Steve can't get access to the old footage as it was owned by ACE TV at the time.My old man was mates with Steve and we went on a couple of trips with him, I think I was in one of the episodes at browns beach - only a kid at the time. One of the bosses at work used to be a camera man for him as well in the early days.He had some great footage, port augusta kingfish and thresher hookups, giant kings smashing trevally at rapid bay, mullies in the port, massive trevs from the 7 mile at victor, far west coast action etc.
  2. Bloody nice sized tuna, you'd be happy with that from the shelf never mind in 3 ft or water ! Well done!
  3. There has been atlanic salmon caught at fowlers bay as well as giant herring.Fish has fins !http://www.marinews.com/travel/travel-articles/exploring-the-deep-reefs/478/
  4. I've recaptured a tagged jewie in the port, anyone who thinks tagging doesn't work has rocks in their head!
  5. The lead up to a dodge is an excellent time to fish, allows you to fish for longer in areas where the water rips through. Some fish are more active with less flow (ie: Mullies and Large snapper).Excellent snapper fishing on the dodge on deep drops, I have a few spots up my sleave and like to give them a crack during the slow tides - can normally pay off.
  6. Plenty around in the usual spots and the pros are having a good time. Season seems on par.Out wide around ardrossan I've noticed a lot more ruggers (legal sized) but that could just be co-incedence.
  7. Bread flies work well, basically just some cotton tied onto a hook, once in the water it slowly sinks like a chunk of bread.I've also had luck on small red tag type flies. In the torrens during summer you can sight cast into any carp stuck in shallow pools. The henley beach road bridge used to be great when the river flowed through there after rains, the carp would sit in the current sucking up food which made great fun for sight casting to.If you want to cheat you can berley up with bread, once you see the carp sucking the bread off the water just cast towards those lips!
  8. When the schools were around earlier in the year big fish came off the barges a lot, along with similar spots like clarries etc.We didn't bother fishing early mornings and got our biggest fish in the middle of the day - just under 14kg. Most around 11kg though.Just on where to launch, I fish the port a bit and sometimes if the weather is good I will launch at west beach and drive up. Takes about 25 min on a nice day and saves the hassle of towing through traffic Also allows you to collect some bait on the way if you feel like it.
  9. The harder they are the better it is when you get one.Snapper can be fun at times but after a few big fish it gets old quick.Mullies - can shit you to tears but when you get a decent one you forget it all.Kings, well after 150+ hours with a livey in the water and no fish landed I'm not sure but I think it will be good
  10. Saltist 30T standard speed would be the go.You can fit easy 300m of 50lb braid + wind on for kings, you don't want a lot of line out on a big king anyway. Trust me I've learned the hard way :angry:For snaps you don't need a heavy duty setup, I've used the above for shits and giggles on big snaps and it was a bit too easy but useable.
  11. Biggest snap caught on my boat, caught by my mate after he dropped about 4 fish. I was so jealous my head fell off for the pic. 13.75kg. caught south this summer.Biggest I've caught myself, 13.5kg. caught north last winter. Didn't shave that day so had a few scales on the scone.
  12. Taken from the port last year, I was pretty happy and look a bit like gary busey. :silly: Bridle rigged salmon trout did the job, great hookup in the corner of the mouth. This one was released, the trip previous I got another one around 10kg.
  13. Fishie, ever heard of a wreck named "Binda" ?
  14. I always get better results with berley but sometimes its probably not needed.I fish a couple of pro grounds off ardrossan and theres no need for berley as the fish are schooled up against big structure.

    Clarries?

Best I've pulled from there is 9kg, very hit and miss spot.Had a crack the other night, very slow not even any ruggers. About 6 boats right on top of the wreck all catching nothing.
