  1. Nice fish,Now would be the time to try. I got some snapper yesterday and the only one I checked had a stomach full of grasshoppers.Maybe it is even possible to catch snapper on a dry fly!Drawn
  2. Great fish voogs!Highfly, I wouldn't have thought 107cm would stand for too long.I've been lucky enough to get one 108cm and another at 110cm.Drawn
  3. Good point Cal, I haven't been told of a decent catch on them yet either.Drawn
  4. I was predicting the rec limit being dropped over the close early this year.I'm not convinced stocks are as low as they say.Maybe they all bit the bullet for just this one season so that from now on they only have to collect half as many cockles for more money than they ever made.More money less work and over heads and it will get easier every year to collect their quota.I suggest this as why would they be so scarce below the mouth when Goolwa beach has as many as ever.I could be wrong though.Drawn
  5. Fantastic effort to come up with that knot yourself.I was shown it a while ago and was told it is called the "slim beauty".Drawn
  6. I've drilled a few holes in stainless myself and the main thing is not to use high speed when drilling it. If your drill doesn't have variable speed just pull the trigger quickly and release it again before the drill picks up too much speed, also push down firmly so that the drill is always cutting as when it spins without cutting it is starting to heat the bit an the stainless.Never tried the lemon juice as I use proper cutting fluid or nothing at all, must give it a go one day!Drawn
  7. Nice work on fly, not too many would have caught SBTs on fly especially when not out on a charter.Drawn
  8. Caught snapper this weekend on brown trout fillets, my mate bought it along incase the fish were really on and we ran out of bait. The snapper loved it.Drawn
  9. Maybe the scales were out a bit but all I cared was that it was definately over the 30lb mark. They were caught out in fast running water so maybe thats why they are leaner. I reckon I can recall being told of a fish caught off Tapleys that was 28lb and 120cm long. Some nice fish taken lately, well done fellas.Drawn
  10. The one in my pic further back was 110cm and weighed 13.9kg 8hrs after capture. The fish I caught 5mins before that one was 106cm and weighed 11.4kg.Another was 96cm and weighed 10kg. Don't measure or weigh them these days just guess.drawn
  11. Des, he just used a paternosta but I use a running rig. This guy caught more because as the tide went out he knew exactly where to cast as we followed the tide out as he seemed to be out most mornings.drawn
  12. I used to fish the St Kilda break water a bit also and my PB is from there and went 43cm. There used to be an old guy that always fished out there with heavy line, a stiff old rod and penn reel for cranking them straight in. He was a gun and the best fish I saw him catch was 48cm and was so fat that it would have definately cracked the 1kg mark.Drawn
  13. Some great pics fellas, I love snapper pics. Here's a pic of my biggest snapper, it was over 30lb caught out wide from Wallaroo in 2000.Drawn
