  1. Four days on and the pain of loss is still searing... t'was my favourite rod/reel.Good news on the horizon though, he's going to buy me a new rod/reel :cheer: (and rightly so).Going fishing rod shopping tomorrow, WHOOO!
  2. If anyone is in or around Garden Island at low tide...about 40 or so metres along the boarwalk there is a fishing rod, ET Baitcaster with Jarvis Walker reel, freshly spooled with fluro braid submerged somewhere within that region. I attempted to retrieve it but without luck.If you find it, good luck to you. Needless to say I am pretty devastated For those of you who are familiar with my previous posts, you will understand when I say I am never going fishing with my other half again
  3. Got stung by a European wasp when I was a kid (10-11yo). One of the most intensely painful things I have ever experienced(aside from watching to 2004 AFL Grandfinal, but that's another story) Other than that had the webbing (best way i could think to describe it) between my thumb and my index finger snipped by a :c :c :c male blue crab. That wasn't much fun either. Certailny put a dampened on the evening. Oh and I got a splinter in my finger from a shitty fish when it put its spikes up...
  4. Confession time...I have bought all my rods from either Kmart or Big W. However, I've never had any problems with the good old $40 rods/combos... I even have a two piece JW snapper rod I got which was chillaxing in the bargain bin....a whole $60 less than the original price so I thought *yoink* I'll have you....Hooks, lures, jags etc...bit of a different story. but again. I research, research, research...
  5. I think that this one would suffice @ Crispy- it's funny, in all my relationships I have always been the one keen on fishing. Funny but every time we would go to the jetty, people would just assume I was the poor missus being dragged along when in actual fact I was the one who had to do the dragging...(and the knots, baiting, etc, etc).... such is life
  6. Apart from the obvious responses of "the beach", is there some particular place one should go to?On another train of thought, if one was to collect mussel-like creatures from jetty pylons on a receding tide, what would the legalities of that be in terms of size and limits?
  7. That's pretty disappointing to hear When I was at Port Vincent in August I noticed a whole lot of Snapper heads/frames laying at the bottom of the shallow water adjacent to the pub. They were quite obviously young/juvenile and definitely not legal size. Made me pretty cross. I also get cranky when I see these sort of things. I see it happen ALL TOO OFTEN being a land-based fisherwoman particularly with crabs. I always carry a couple of extra crab measures with me and let people know if they are doing the wrong thing. Sometimes it can be intimidating though, a lot of fisherMEN are very...
  8. From my experience, which is far, far less than many of you fine ladies and gentlemen, I have found no matter the size, it is invariably a green colour that gets the tentcales in a tangle. I don't know why (as someone mentioned, I was lead to believe that they were colourblind).A good example of this was a couple of weeks ago at Ardrossan. Boyfriend and I were using multicolour/white jigs and getting diddly. A guy about 3 metres away had a green jig and was getting squiddly. (I might add the reason I had no greens on me was due to the fact that earlier in the day some delightful person at Wall
  9. With all that in mind...............*whoosh* (looks up as the finer points of the conversation soar overhead).I've decided that I'd better just leave it until I can actually observe (read "pester an experienced Angler in the flesh") for myself how the heck people go about it/ I don't want to head off and look like a complete tool...
  10. Thankyou to everyone for your comments and tips I will do my best to mull over it. At the moment my poor brain is having trouble dealing with all this information. I'm regretting dying my hair blonde this morning, I think it leeched through my skull. Who knows what stereotypes will be made with the combination of blonde/red hair. Angry and dumb? Dumb and angry? who knows Good thing my natural brunettishness is on standby
  11. Have been doing a bit of reading up on the net as far as how to present the bait for Snapper and found a few contradictory results so just wondering what people here are finding to be a good strong reliable rig?Cheers
  12. Cats or trumpeters? LMAOCats give them furballs :S Good one:laugh:
  13. Cheers for all that info. My cats certainly think they're tasty, but I'll stick with the octopus for the red fellas.
