  1. It was definitely a Luderick, I think the reason we don't see more is because we don't target them and they aren't as prolific here as in the eastern states.
  2. I was with my father in law when he caught a Luderick off the rocks in the North Haven Marina a couple of years ago. Pretty flukey by catch as he was going for bream at the time but had downsized his tackle due to the bream being finicky that night. We'd never seen one before (or since) and had to do some research to identify it.
  3. Soap works fine because of its raw ingredients, basically made from fat, sounds strange that you can clean yourself with something like that.I second Coogan's post, my old man always had a 'Shrimp Tin', just a large tin with holes in it and a string tied to it.The handy thing with those collapsible traps is that they basically fold flat for storage.
  4. Hi Kayak Noob,While you're at Ray's grab one of these for shrimp (I think these are what Phatty & Fished Out were referring to).http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Surecatch-1-5-Bait-Trap.aspx?pid=168108&menuFrom=1021860#Cross
  5. Great footage, a lot more variety of animal life than I thought. Are those ugly crabs edible??
  6. That's a common fault with youtube at the moment, you'll need to clear all your browser history, cookies, etc..
  7. Yeah SA local. That footage is from interstate. It would be awesome to see some similar footage from around some local SA spots, although I imagine diving around the sub base could lead to a period of detention... Awesome looking fish underwater.
  8. Found this video on a yakking forum, it'd be awesome to see some footage of some local spots.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWVXpmXloCg#t=105
  9. I've heard of people using artificial turf or synthetic grass for their boat decks.Great to stand on and easy to wash down after use.http://www.syntheticgrass.com.au/default.asp?id=21
  10. Yeah, I know that it's my fault but the fire extinguisher would've been one of the last things I'd check. Not anymore though!!!I could understand if my boat was in disrepair and I was blatantly flouting the safety laws or if I was impolite to the tosser. And the fish had just come on the chew when he turned up, ruined a perfect morning.Still, looking at it from a 'glass half full' perspective I did get a lovely Salmon Trout of about 28cm, so if the troutie weighed 200 grams, with the fine, fuel, etc it's probably worth about $1000 bucks a kilo...Speaking of their Xmas bbq, I wonder if they wan
  11. Yeah, that was me that had the marine safety boat pull up for a check.Just a warning to everyone to check the gauge on your fire extinguishers, bloody mongrel gave me a $180 fine, would've appreciated an official warning, picked a new one up on the way home.
  12. Had to laugh watching TV last night, apparently there's a ban on taking mud cockles from the Torrens Island area. They interviewed one of the pro's who has a licence and he said that they're in short supply because of over fishing by zealous recreational fisherman. Not apparently due to the 150 tonnes the 2 licence holders take every year...
  13. I bought one about 2 mths ago, matched it with the Abu overhead. All up I think it was a pretty good purchase for $100.Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet though.
