  1. If youre not an expert at rod building (like myself) I would recommend taking your rod to a tackle store. Personally, I had exactly the same thing happen to me and I just took my rod straight to Got One St Mary's. Although they didnt have the exact part I wanted, they still gave me a tough, strong tip which is still working today. At the end of the day it's probably not worth risking it by doing it yourself because there is always the chance that you may stuff something up and do something bad to your rod. It may cost a bit more to get a professional to fix it but I believe that's the way you s
  2. Yeah have a crack for some Salmon I reckon. What gear do you intend on using?I would avoid the southern metro beaches (eg. Glenelg, Brighton etc). They are probably finished until winter ends.

  5. I remember reading one of Sambo's reports from West Lakes once where he caught one on a blade. In theory I think vibes would definitely work. Its just a matter of getting the courage up to sacrifice the time to go and put the theory into action.
  6. Going by this website I would certainly go for the 2500. It's 10g heavier but is able to hold a lot more line than the 2508.http://www.daiwa.com/reel/detail.aspx?id=195
  7. That's pretty massive.Cheers AF.Well done to all the guys who went on the charter. Think you got your money's worth
  8. Doesn't seem to work for me.Can you try again AF?
  9. Yeah i have fishing lite too and have found it to be pretty useful. There's another one I have called 'Fishing.' The icon is a white fish on a red background. It has a whole data base of info on species, locations as well as other hints and tips too.
  10. I love my squidding outfit to be honest. Its an 8ft LB Shimano Sephia teamed up with a Daiwa Triforce 2500 loaded with 10lb braid. It casts an absolute mile and has the ability to dead lift big squid up the side of a jetty. It's gr8.
  11. Quality sharks there barbz. I think some of us here are underestimating how hardy sharks really are. It's a brutal existence in the ocean, so I think that sharks can stand a bit of bloodshed.Well done though on C &R.
  12. Cheers guys.I sort of missed out on the salmon last year due to a bit of a loss of interest. However, I'm going to try to get back into them this Winter with some metal and SPs. Just got to change to split rings and assist hooks first Will try to get down to Southport soon and see what its like there.
  13. Hi guys,Just wondering whether there are any early reports of salmon showing up Waits/ Southport? If not, when can we expect to see some fish begin to show up around he place?I know there are plenty of STs about which are fun to catch too but this winter I'm a bit more interested in the larger specimens.Cheers
  14. In all seriousness, how the hell did he manage to catch that thing? What shitty tournament though. :cheer: Cheers for sharing TT
  15. 30g halco silver twisty is my favourite slug and the blue pilchard coloured squidgy slick rig in terms of SPs
  16. 40cm bream?20lb snapper. (although on this site many members have caught XOS Snapps)You could also have a 1m Murray cod or something? There's just about a milestone for every species.
  17. Nice stuff gimbles.Gotta love the ST time of year. They're great fun.
  18. I have noticed that too.Every bloody bream article says the same thing. "graphite rod, small spinning reel, fish the structure" etc etc etc. WE ALREADY KNOW THIS!I guess that's where wild coast is better because SA angler doesn't have reports or the brag board which will always be different.
  19. Nice stuff guys. Good viewing. Shame only one of the vids worked for me.May have to go to YouTube I think. :cheer:
  20. Try shooting twitch twitch 97 a PM.He has been studying up on cameras as of late and may be able to give you some good advice.
  21. Cheers guys. Unfortunately we weren't able to get any.Things seemed very quiet down there. Maybe a few tackle adjustments are required for next time.Only fish caught was a catty by some other bloke.
