  1. Thinking of trying for carp this weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to pull a few. Whilst its not the nicest of topics I am just wondering how to humanely depose of them. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Cheers
  2. That's a true giant.Fish of a lifetime for sure :woohoo:
  3. Shimano raider or starlo sticks are good graphite options and come in at around $100-$120 I think at BCF.
  4. Interesting. Snook seem to really like white minnow SP imitations. The pearl white squidgy flickbaits are what I use when not trolling for them.Congrats jackblack
  5. I know I personally use that Technique especially for unweighted Bream baits next to structure Pontoons etc.A Bait Running technique I use though. Is to back the Drag right off the Reel so there is no resistance and then as the Fish takes the Bait. Lock up Drag and set the Hook. Hope this helps cheers TTWould definitely use this technique over leaving the bail arm open.As the fish swims off you will hear the drag and then it is just a matter of turning it up to fighting drag strength. Then you don't have to clamp the bail down with line racing away at a million miles
  6. If you don't get bites on plastics just by making small changes to your tackle can instantly turn the fish on.Use as light a leader as you feel comfortable with, or downsize the weight of the jig head.Or think about changing lures
  7. Sabiki ( I use black magic) with squid off the end ofport Hughes jetty equals slimies.
  8. My PB is 30cm on lure if that makes you feel any better.
  9. Me too. Apparently they are sold at fishing wholesalers on lonsdale rd. Don't know whether I would ever trust a rod made of carrot though. Might stick to graphite for now.Although I guess people would have been hesitant to switch over to graphite from fibre glass all those years ago.
  10. Met an experienced fly fisho once who swears by 7 inch sized fish imitations in the onkaparinga river in the southern suburbs. Could always give that place a go
  11. Port HughesMoonta BayRapid BayScrewpilePort Noarlunga. And yes, I like catching squid.
  12. Do you mean an underwater system. Because if so I have already got it works a treat!!TTOh cool! Can't wait to use it then. Don't know if we will be able to dunk it in the pat though? :vomit:
  13. Cheers for the heads up sambo. Was that in the west lakes?Great pic by the way. I think TT is trying to get his hands on one so we can get the same sorts of pics.
  14. In terms of bigger fish like sharks, mullies etc I would use a tough, quality line like Jinkai Plus. It's not worth taking shortcuts on quality when it comes to targetting trophy, hard-fighting fish IMO.For smaller fish, I use Vanish for 4 and 6lb but have gone for Famell in the 3lb class. Haven't had a problem with either to date.
  15. Bad luck on the fish. Always the next session. As for the story.. well done. I bet they would have been pretty thankful. However, other boaties shouldn't be making it hard for you. Especially when you are :c performing a rescue!
  16. Wow! Magnificant report and the fish.... woah!Great metro reds guys.
  17. Some incredible shots 4tha.That first pic looks amazing.
  18. Those STs do that a lot!I was at the Pa the other day and it was just like looking into a sea of the things. Nailed quite a few that day as revenge for all the tails they chomped off. All were released tho
  19. Looks good but I would still prefer to use a fish imitation over a prawn one.Wouldn't it be a bit unnatural for a squid to see a fast sinking prawn? Whereas the fish imitations can be worked to look like a baitfish darting just above the seaweed.Just my preference though. Others are welcome to disagree.
  20. I got my ghost coloured r2s popper from gotone st Mary's. :cheer:
  21. Interested SS and Softy you would say that.In my opinion Power Pro is the Best Braid I have used Bar None! I beleive it casts a Mile; lays well and has to be honest good knot strength. In saying that as Power Pro is in association with Shimano, I am going to be impartial towards it! I think my next Reel may have something like Fins or Sunline on it to give it a Run. Still keeping my options always open...I think Braid is really one of those Products that everyone has their favourites and others they dislike. TTI agree with you here TT. I have never had a problem with my Power Pro. I reckon it
  22. Absolute rubbish.Makes my blood boil reading that.
  23. Yeah loop knot is crucial keg. Some people even tie a heavier than usual leader (20lb) or so to try and get their poppers tracking straight. I use the rapala loop knot and it works well for squid jags, HBs and poppers. Good luck with it.
  24. Recently spooled a penn OH with 20lb power pro. I had to respool it a few times until I was satisfied that the lie was on tight enough.Braid is much better than mno IMO but is harder to untie in a birds nest
